Almost Famous Bootleg Cut Director's Edition 8.99 at Borders OOP hurry!

Thought I would pass this along. I assume most stores will not have this in stock, but for a lucky few there is gold to be had. This dvd has been hitting 50-100 sealed on the internet. Today I went in to Borders with a 30% off coupon ready and willing to pay the maked price of 33.99 for this dvd, since i never bought it while it was readily available. I took it to the register and it rang up 8.99. Seems they had clearanced the remaining stock, and no one bothered to ever fix the tag. So after my 30% off coupon I got it for 6.29 and tax.

Before you ask or assume. Yes this is the brown cover 2 disc + cd copy. The sticker is correct and reads Almost Famous/Bootleg Cut-Dir My reciept says the same thing, so it wasn't a mis sticker. I called the other store in town and they didn't have any in stock. They told me it could no longer be ordered.

Hope you find one. Post back if you do.

So the DVD rings up at $8.99 automatically now? I thought the other thread talks about their koisk showing $8.99 but the DVD actually ringing up much higher, and then some cashiers/managers just overwriting it to $8.99.

I can't find the $8.99 price at broders.com or bordersstores.com, can someone tell me where they found the price online? Or should I just show up in the morning?

I was able to pick this up a few years ago when it was mispriced for $9.99 at Best Buy (clearly marked for $29.99, causing all sorts of store types to get involved). Of course I heard about the misprice on this forum, so thanks to the OP.
Great version of this film.

They must have realized their mistake and changed the price on the website. I think this deal is now offically dead.

This is an in-store deal, the website is not part of it. You can also get it mailed to you from the STORE. I think the price is 4.95 plus tax. Just don't call the Whitehall or Reading stores in PA, they are out.

My thanks to the OP as well. I was able to find one in Indiana and when I went to call someone else had already reserved it...darn you! But, I did manage to find one in Kentucky - after shipping and tax the total came out to $10.17 (with the 30% coupon). Not a bad deal at all - especially seeing the ebay and retail pricing.

Just reserved one. Hopefully the in-store price will still be active when I pick it up.

Would you care for a tip (that is if you don't already know about it)?

-Go to:

http://www.bordersstores.com/locator/locator.jsp?tt=gn

-Then pick an area. When it brings up the list of stores, pick up to six of them and click add.

-Then over on the right, click on SEARCH STORE INVENTORY.

-On the next page, on the left, search for Almost Famous in movies (or anything else you want).

-Then click on the Bootleg Cut Director's Edition from the list that comes up.

-Over on the right in the Store Availability, it will tell you which stores have it in stock.

Call them to hold it for you for up to three days, or place the order over the phone. Keep in mind that you can not use the coupon over the phone.

I hope this helps some of you guys.

Just to add to that, their inventory is updated nightly so this won't reflect sales made today. I've already called about 5 stores that showed it as "in stock" but they were all out. They all mentioned how they've received several calls already this morning.

Thanks for the tip Lumpkin. I actually found another store near my work that I didnt know about, but they didnt have it in stock. Im going to stop at another store on the way home. This dvd has been on my wishlist for a while now, didnt know it was OOP. It kills me that this deal sat in the karate kid post that I never read for like 10 days now. Hopefully the deal is still going on.

I got the last one in Austin, Texas... clerk rang it up 5 times until she finally accepted that the movie was only $8.99. She made some comment about how she would have bought it had she known.

Thanks OP.

If the bordersstores.com site says "order" for my local store, will the price be $8.99 or $33.99?

Bummer.

2 stores show it available, 1 was OOS and the others an hour away.

Thanks anyway, OP.
