Monty Python and The Holy Grail : Extraordinarily Deluxe Edition ----> 2/21/06
Davisdvd.com is reporting that sony is re-releasing this classic film on Feb. 21st, 2006.

Although i love this film, this re-re-release has to be another unecessary double dip by Sony. Where the hell is the Dracula SE?!!!

Wow, Sony seems determined to be crowned "King of Unnecessary Re-Releases". Between the end of this year and what we see on tap in 2006, it's getting nuts. Most of these are just adding "booklets" and such too... so be careful before dumping your old editions.
However, I also see news of a "Director's Cut" of Erik the Viking. I wonder how that'll differ from my Region 4 edition...

This re-re-re-release of Holy Grail will probably be a complete waste of time, but Erik the Viking: Director's Cut sounds good. I wonder if it'll be more substantial than the Holy Grail 21st Anniversary "Extended Edition".

I still don't own this movie, but feel like it has been released more times than I change my underwear in a week. I guess I'll wait to see what the consensus is here before purchasing it.

If they're serious about this, it should be a 2- (or 3-) disk SuperBit SE with the screenplay enclosed, and of course, fixed subtitles. Perhaps you could include an all-new retrospective documentary, not unlike the stuff they did for Meaning of Life SE. And the Python reunion from the Aspen Comedy Festival from a few years back, when they "accidentally" kicked over Graham's ashes.
And some playing cards. We definitely need playing cards.
And then, after all that, release Yellowbeard, Clockwise, an SE of Jabberwocky, and a mega-deluxe SE of Baron Munchausen.
Am I forgetting anything?
Does Sony ever listen?
BOMM,

...and a Shrubbery. But then the matter is closed. No more MPATHG. At least until HD.

If it's any good, and doesn't feature stacked discs like the 3rd release, I'll probably pick it up. I've got the 1st release, and been meaning to buy the 2nd, but heck, if the 4th is better, I'll pick it up. Confused yet?

I was thinking more like the playing cards that come with the Silverado gift set, but a CCG would do, as well.
And then we'll throw the set into the river and see if it floats.

How many DVD extended, extrodinary deluxe editions do they expect us to buy? And what do you do with the older editions that you already have? It gets to be mind-boggling after awhile. How many extra, extras do we need to buy?

I would like to direct all of you to the back cover of your current Special Edition Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In the Upper left corner it says and this is exactly as it appears, "The ultimate definitive FINAL special edition dvd."
Just wanted to show you want made me feel so good when I was buying it cause I actually believed it would be the final edition until DVDs go obsolete.
P.S.- And another thing, the bastards won't even release a somewhat good edition of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, even the Japanese Superbit I paid 45 dollars for isn't even worth 10 bucks.

Well, I was just thinking about how I didn't have this yet, so it looks like I should wait and see what this is like before I get a copy.
