Franz Ferdinand Live DVD

Anyone get this? Came out on 12/6. Two Disc set with three full concerts. I picked it up today at Best Buy. Cost only $9.99 though I think that might have been a mistake because that's 50% off. My only real gripe is that there isn't much from the second album here. Only like three songs. Also, there is a bit of overlap in songs. Most songs are on here 3 times. Still, not too bad for $9.99.

Dolby Digital 5.1 and PCM stereo.

meh.

A live DVD after one album? They could have at least included a concert post You Could Have It... and some music videos.

I've seen Franz a few times, and they are NOT a good live band. The two guitar attack just mixes much better on the album than it does live. Love the CDs, but live, not so much.

BULLSHIT!

I saw them just this past October at The Joint here in Las Vegas and they blew the roof off the place. Easily one of the better concerts I've attended this year.

Wow. I guess you have A REAL PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE DISAGREEING WITH US SO WE SHOUT AND PRANCE LIKE A GIANT BABY

We can differ Matt, and it's still cool. I have yet to hear a live performance by them that i thought was as good as they are on their albums. Some bands just don't translate well to the stage, and that doesn't mean that they are bad bands at all. I really like the band, but not live.

And you really need to get WAY over yourself. It's not BS because your opinions differ. You've been here long enough to know that.

Actually ... two studio albums.

I've seen them live in concert twice now, and thought they were great. Loved every minute of both shows.

The most recent show (Oct '05) was at the Nokia Theatre in NYC - and they were even tighter than before. The final song - This Fire - was incredible, with three guys (the drummer and two drum techs /roadies?) smacking the shit out of the drum kit. A wonderful climax to a great concert.

As for the live DVD ... if you're a fan, there's only one choice .. GET IT!
Two DVDs for only $17 ? What more convincing would you need?

I think the "one studio album" comment was referring to when these concerts were taped...? There's not a single song from "You Could Have It So Much Better" on this set.

I was CTRL+F-ing the tracklist for the second album, but apparently I did something wrong since I missed a couple of tracks. (I don't know the song titles off the top of my head, so for the most part, I can't look at the DVD and say which album a song was on.) Two songs is still kinda quibbling, though.

Is anyone having problems with the 5.1 sound mix on certain songs? I think it's all of disc 1 and the San Francisco concert on disc 2. It sounds low and muffled. The stereo is much better. I'm worried that it's just mine that's defective. I'm obviously outside the normal 30-day return policy, as I bought it upon release and just got to it now.

Huh!? How can you judge any band or artist by one song? First, what's wrong with Oingo Boingo? Second, I haven't heard one song by FF that sound anything like OB. But, if you turn you back on Franz after only one song, your loss. And they are a great band live. One of the best I've ever seen.
