Need advise on setting up my Home Theater

Thanks for looking. I recently bought a Toshiba 47" WS RP HDTV with DVI. Then decided to go with a Onkyo home theater setup and a Toshiba Progressive DVD player with DVI. My questions are these:
1)With a RP HDTV screen will using the DVI be worth it image wise (compared to component)?
2) If I do use the DVI for the image from the DVD player, should I also use the DV audio options like DV IN , or Optical/CoAx.
3) What about using DVI and then using component for sound?
4) What good is it to run a cable from the HT Receiver to the TV via "monitor out to Video 1 IN? Isn the Video beind sent to the TV from the DVD player and not taxied thru the Receiver?
5)Should I just hook it up with component video and audio cable and not worry about all this?

Thanks for your help, I just dont want to go and buy DVI, Optical, CoAx, and Component cables if I cant figure out the best setup before hand.

1) Might. Try both and see. Calibrate both with Digital Video Essentials before you compare.

2) DVI goes to TV for video. Optical/coax goes to the receiver for audio.

3) Component is video only.

4) Unless you have more sources than your TV has inputs, just run video straight to the TV.

5) See #1, 2 above.

I would use component cables and then either optical/coax for the audio.

There are recent threads on DVI versus component. In my experience, one cannot discern any difference in PQ using component versus DVI/HDMI (but that, of course, is based on my TV/DVDp/etc -- and my eyes).
