Thanks!

I'll be ordering from Amazon:
Sin City
Simpsons 7th
40 Year Old Virgin
Million Dollar Baby/The Aviator 2-pack ($10.99)

But I'm going to have to go to best buy and pick up Citizan Kane and Casablanca at that price. I've been meaning to get those for a while. And I'll get The Simpsons there too, as it's $3 cheaper.

Thanks again!

One of the things I've noticed over the past several weeks is that Circuit City has been premiering BIG HITS such as WAR OF THE WORLDS @ 13.99 plus the $3 coupon that came in the Madagascar video it came to 10.99.Inside the War of the Worlds is a $3 off coupon for "The Island" for those who are planning on getting it.
I'm willing to bet 40 yr Old Virgin will be priced @13.99 as well since it's just before Christmas.
The Island is 15.98 @ Amazon

And they are often authored by those folks who don't hold the door open for the elderly, cut in front of you in traffic in their empty SUV's without signalling while talking on the cellphone, and don't bother to say THANK YOU.

I am grateful you posted the prices you did...I've been holding off on Tommy Boy until I could get it for 10 bucks or less. This is close enough.

Yeah, thanks a bunch for typing all of that out. Its going to be the Simpsons for me for sure, and it looks like I'll finally pick up Unforgiven, though its the only of the WB special editions that I'm interested in which I don't have. I also may grab Closer in the 2/20 deal if I can find something else there that I want.

I'd be totally amused if someone had posted all the 2 for 20 DVDs and the old box sets and then got too tired to post the new release DVD sets and films just off their theatrical run like Simpsons 7, The Island, and 40 Year Old Virgin. That's my type of humor, but of course it wouldn't be able to be repeated. =p

I don't know if anyone is desperate for The Bad News Bears (2005), but my Sam's Club in Dayton, OH had it out already in a 2-pack with the older TBNB. YMMV.

Do you think they'll combine the $10 giftcard offer if I'm doing like 3 price-matches (The Office, Virgin, Sin City) and a coupon (The Island) as long as the price before taxes is over $75 for whatever I get? It doesn't say anything here about not being able to combine offers, but I know they can suck about that stuff. Is there actually anything printed they have behind CS to say they can't combine specific offers?

It looks like the small, "price tag" shaped one is considered a media guide. There's quite larger flyer out along with it.

I know their 10% off coupons never allow combining, but this one MIGHT work. I've found people at BBY are generally clueless so you have to go there and try it.

12-11-05, 12:48 PM
By the way, the reason I'm tempted to go through a few more hoops to get another $10 off is that I'm disappointed by the quality of the latest Disney tins. Like others have said, some of the Donald Duck shorts weren't restored and in The Village Smithy Donald is yellow. Then to get to the wartime cartoons there is a FORCED introduction by Maltin which you can't fast forward, skip, or access the next menu (it knocks you back to the first menu). I don't have the patience to wade through Maltin's blabbing every time I want to watch 1 of these "from the Vault" shorts.

Was anyone else bothered by this forced intro problem?

Then of course the both the Rarities and Legendary Heroes set are incomplete. These latest tins should be selling for $19.99 or less, not $24.99.

YMMV, as always ---

A few months back I PM'ed a Trek set during a similar promo. The guy who checked me out actually said, before I said anything, that the $10 GC might not be given because of the PM - the system may not allow it, he said. As it turns out, the system gave him a message about giving out the GC. So he went and got a card, activated it and away I went.

So -- it may actually be programmed into the system rater than something the cashier has to remember to do. Again this was months ago and the system may have been changed.

If I buy $150 worth of stuff, and use my reward zone card in two consecutive transactions, am I still going to get two $10 GCs? I don't even care about using the first card in a second transaction immediately, but $20 extra dollar on top of my reward zone points would be a great deal.

My Best Buy had Simpsons S7 out last week, and I though I'd missed the release week so I picked it up at full price. I went back today with the ad to get them to price match, and they said "Nope, the $29.99 is the price for Sin City. Simpsons is not on sale."

So after really thinking this through, I'm really wondering if they're gonna let me do this.

First Transaction for a $10 GC:
40 Virgin $16.99
Simpsons S7 $29.99
Nightmare Before XMas $9.99 (price-match Circuit City)
Sin City Extendend $26.99 (price-match Target)
Total: $83.96

Second Transaction for a $10 GC:
Gilmore Girls S5 $39.99
Kong Production $32.99
Arrested Dev S2 $19.99 (price-match Target)
$92.97

and I'm using a $10 reward zone certificate and would hope I can get my points too. Is this going to be kosher?

Ended up grabbing The Lost Boys 2-disc AND Enter the Dragon 2-disc. Couldn't resist. Thanks again for the ad!

Unless they're at your BB. :) It's always like pulling teeth to get price-matches there. And even just buying a DVD on sale I've gotten comments like "we're losing money on this" and "people don't buy anything else, just the DVD's." End Rant.

That being said, I'll be there Tues. :(

If the subtotal at Best Buy is over $75 and you use Reward Certificates which take the total out of pocket under $75, would that prevent you from getting the $10 gift card?

Also, is there any chance of using the Disney gift card coupon and getting the $10 gift card?

I'm having a feeling that this is yet another one of those cases where nobody knows (including the people who work at Best Buy) how the promo works because only the computer knows, so I'll have to go and see what happens.

I'm just guessing here. Since the RZ certificates take $ off the items, the sub-total would appear less and you might not get the $10 GC. Unless your RZ certs are expiring soon, use them in another purchase ;)

I think the RZ cert's are just considered like cash...so, it should work, but I say SHOULD with hesitation.

I don't think the RZ certs act like cash because I seem to recall that you are not taxed on the portion of the purchase that you used them for.

Hey rmick, don't forget to PM "40 Year Old Virgin" with the Circuit City Ad ($13.99))

Is it confirmed that BB will PM on 4YV? I only ask because the CC ad has $13.99 by and pointing to The Office. I hear this is something they do often, but I just don't want to have the bad luck of dealing with the BB clerk that notes how the arrow's pointing at one title and not both.

It's really unclear in the CC ad if 40 Year Old Virgin is $13.99. I guess I'll try it but there's a low price bubble on it and an arrow pointing to The Office at $13.99.

Reward zone certificates definatly won't work if you buy 75 and use 10 in RZC consider it like spending 65

for sure

also a note. there is a 3 dollar off coupon in the king kong kodak sketch journal they are giving away with cinderella man...though i did not have to buy cinderella man to obtain it.

It's $13.99 on CC's website, so I'm pretty sure that price will carry over to the store.

I wonder if Best Buy would accept the $3 coupon for "The Island" that was inside "War of the Worlds", -I've had a problem before if the coupon didn't have "Best Buy"'s logo on it. Any idea of who might take it?

Which version of War of the Worlds was that in? '53 or '05?

I've used one of those email coupons (Daredevil I think) before with no problems.

The island coupon is a manufacturer coupon, they should take it (or else there'll be hell to pay!).

Also I always give them my RZ certs after everything is totaled, heck they should ring up a gift card and have it in the bag before we pay anyways. Just a thought.

Would it be best just to go in with the newspaper ad and their website ad?

Does it matter if you give you RZ card before the puchase? I'm just wondering if there is a difference before or after.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever returned an item on a transaction where Reward Zone certificates were used? If yes, did the portion of the RZ discount on the returned item go back to your account and get re-issued as another certificate (if you have enough total points)? Did they wait another 30+ days for these returned points to count or was it immediate?

This is how BBY employees say it's supposed to work, but so far I haven't dared try it for fear I'll lose part of the certificates. I tend to trust people here far more than store employees.

I was going to try and PM it at Best Buy but when the price is not clear in the CC ad they have given me a hard time in the past and refused to honor it. I just decided to order it online along with The Office Season 1.

Not to my knowledge, it's just easier to see that your $5 was taken off. Might smooth along the process of getting the $75 and $10 gift card in this case.

+Danny

I was able to price match Sin City and Miami Vice Season 2 with no problems. Got 40 year old virgin for $12.99 (EW, SI, Time magazines thing). The CS rep was very nice, she needed to add 3 cents to get the total up to 75 bucks and then the system showed that I'd get the $10 Gift Card.

Is the free $10 GC deal automatic when your media purchase is $75 or more?

The free GC deal last year was more generous. IIRC, it was $10 GC for $40+ media purchase.

Couple of notes on the 2 for $20's: Most (if not all) are available individually for $10.
Was able to pick up Alexander theatrical/WS even though the ad and signage was only for Directors cut/FS.
Picked up Tommy Boy Holly Schnike edition with bobble head for $10!! Only had 1 left.

As for the giftcard you can pick out your own and take it up to the register incase you want the Disney one with the coupon for Disney titles. I ended up just getting the add 6000 RZ points to any 2 DVD's over 14.99.

Excellent day at Best Buy. Wasn't able to use my RZ certificate for $10 since it just wasn't going through, but I'll just use it next week on Serenity!
Got 40 Year Old Virgin for $13.99, Sin City for $26 even because of the cashier's mistake, as well as all my other planned price matches, as well as two $10 Gift Cards and all those reward zone points!

Sweet, 12.99 Warner Bros. SE's :)

And then you drag your ass to Best Buy and they NEVER have ANYTHING that was advertised. I seriously think they take them off the shelves on purpose.
