It looks like Blockbuster has started up their 3 for $25 sale on PVD. Seems like they ran a similar sale last year about this time. I highly recommend a visit as they have picked up quite a few used buys this past year.
To help guide you in your purchases pay close attention to each disk's sticker price. The prices seem to accurately reflect each title's relative scarcity and value.
I got:
Moonraker SE ($29.99 sticker) (OOP)
To Sir with Love ($14.99 sticker)
The Emperor and the Assassin ($14.99 sticker)
This is in Portland. Don't know if it's national yet.

Saw a sign at my local blockbuster as I drove by today. $8+ for used dvd's isnt really a deal anymore. The same dvd's will be 2 for $15 in 3 months and are probably 2 for $20 brand new nowadays or within a month. Im expecting $14.99 to be the new $19.99 in 2006 for new releases. You'll see a lot more $5- dvd's this year too.

Yeah, I've been thinking a lot about that too. Prices seem to be dropping pretty steadily. $5 is definetely going to be the new price target.
What I am recommending in this thread is to search out older, specialty, and OOP titles in the Blockbuster PVD bins.

Started?
Around here, that sale has been going on for at least 3 or 4 months now with no end in sight.

ditto!
They also have a deal where some titles are 2 for $12
Another deal is $4.99 Titles, including The Grudge, Blade Trinity Unrated, White Noise, The Aviator, Troy, Ocean's Twelver, and Open Water (I think that's all of them).

Yea that 3 for $25 has been around since the Summer here. I asked them how long it would last and they said it would be around since they're flooded with extra stuff. I may have to look into those $4.99 ones since I haven't been inawhile, mainly Ocean's 12 and Grudge.

Somebody has been trading in Criterions and Kino's at my local BBV! Did they really get $3 for these?? I had most of them, but picked up Fiend without a Face. I thought it was insane that Criterion was charging $40 for a single disc edition of a grade-b film like that. But for $8 it was enjoyable..
Some other foreign ones too. Thinking of getting "Z"...interesting what people trade in..

"Z" is a great film. That would be a nice used disc buy at Blockbuster.

Yeah, especially when they are selling used copies of Aviator & Troy for $4.99.

FWIW, if you go to Blockbuster, they are also doing their: "Buy $50+ in a gift card, get a free $5 gift card" to help sweeten the deal.
My local Blockbuster had the following:
Dominion
Lords of Dogtown Unrated (w/ bonus disc of 10 webispodes)
Mad Hot Ballroom
Melinda and Melinda
(Plus 25% off video games)

I saw quite a few good titles today:
Batman Begins
Layer Cake
Kung Fu Hustle
All were badly scratched, though. Good prices don't matter if the DVD isn't in good shape.

Okay, it's pretty simple math ... how many people use them for rentals? Now, how many times do YOU want to watch the movie? Good luck, and Happy New Years everyone!!
