question about "Short Cuts" Criterion DVD

can anyone confirm for me that the excellent audio interview with Pauline Kael that was featured on the 1994 Criterion laserdisc has been carried over onto the DVD. I'm thinking the answer is no, since it's not listed on the packaging. Just wanted to double-check.

No mention of this Pauline Kael character.

The Pauline Kael "I hate this terrible movie" commentary has not been carried over to the DVD. I think the rumor at the time of release was that her estate wouldn't give permission for its use.

Geez, why did she hate it so much? She really could have some seriously bad hair days.

I can confirm that it isn't on there. It is a nice DVD set, though.

Kael was a terrific film critic, but she had certain prejudices that would occasionally override all normal critical judgement. When a director got on her bad side, that was it for them forever. Nothing they did could possibly be any good ever again. I think Nashville was the last Altman film she liked, and everything after that was a waste of her time. She trashed every movie Stanley Kubrick made after Lolita, including Dr. Strangelove and 2001.

By the same token, she had certain favorite directors she stuck with and acclaimed even during the worst of their output. Brian DePalma falls into that category.
