ps. I'm not bashing, I just think it's humorous. Good to see people enthusiastic about a new console.

I agree that it's excessive, but the mods think it's fine.

A brand new platform just launched, a platform that will be around for years (likely). I see no need to fret over this. In a couple weeks it will subside. Let people have their fun I say. On any normal day only 10-15 threads are active anyway.

The One & Only Xbox 360 Gallant Pig is a little too excited about Xbox 360 thread

It doesn't matter much but making all those 1/Only threads made it really confusing, there is no reason in making all those threads but maybe letting it ride out will help get rid of this clutter, its a mess.

Hi Franchise, I'll probably be closing this thread shortly, but I'd like a chance to respond since apparently it's pissing everyone off so much.

For a long time we had a 1/Only 360 Discussion thread. As the launch approached, it became obvious to anyone interested in the 360 that the thread was impossible to follow because of constant discussions and so many pages. It was also way too big (over 1K posts). So I had to kill it.

Then I thought to myself, how can we contain the dozens of possible threads that will pop up now that the huge 1/Only is gone. We could let people freely post any thread they wanted, resulting in dozens of threads about getting one on launch day, gettine one at Kmart, getting one at Target, whatever. So I decided to make five smaller 1/Only threads to contain all Xbox 360 console discussion. I decided to leave specific game discussion out of these threads since I believe it would be a giant mess to try and have all Xbox 360 game discussion in one thread. Also since several 360 games are on various platforms it wouldn't make sense to limit discussion of them to just the 360 thread.

So I'll go through the list and you tell me if this makes sense:

The Xbox 360 Compendium, Version 2.0 (technically not a "1/Only")
- You are correct this isn't a 1/Only thread. I want to limit discussion in here and posted in the thread telling everyone this.

1/Only XBOX 360 "Not Getting One" Discussion
- I had nothing to do with starting this thread. I even questioned why it had to exist, but a few people really seemed to think it was necessary so I obliged. I don't consider it an Xbox 360 thread since it's not about the 360 per se, it's about not getting the 360.

1/Only Xbox 360 Technical Discussion
- This is for discussing all technical things, such as cables, hooking it up, 720p, tvs, all that stuff.

1/Only Xbox 360 Game Reviews Thread
- Where people can talk about the reviews rolling in.

1/Only Xbox 360 Misc Topics
- I'm throwing everything else in here, such as Ebay talk and other stuff.

1/Only Xbox 360 "getting one on launch day" discussion
- This is for war stories, people who camped all night, etc

You also missed one:

- Obviously self explanatory

I believe I will be closing the launch day discussion since it's not really relevant any more... The others have been very useful to me as a mod to place various threads into. I won't be closing them or merging them. So it will be four threads... Four of what 30? Is that a big deal? Seriously?

Or one where the store has an entire display full of games and accessories but not a console in sight?

I'd say, if you have to have the one and onlys (I"m fine with lots of seperate threads as I said in the other thread just now) then have.

1. The misc. one. Technical and impression of system (rather than games) can be combined in here as those two threads are getting very little discussion.

2. The thread about getting one.

3. The Game reviews thread.

Again thanks for the feedback. My thinking with 1) is that not many people have actually gotten the 360 yet. Over the coming weeks more and more will. It will probably just fall off the front page. Same with technical discussion. I'd rather have it fall off the front page than pack it all into Misc.

Let me think about it, you might see some combining, but from my Mod POV it's going well. As someone interested in the launch I think it's been going well too, easy to follow discussions for the most part.

I still can't believe some people (not you josh) are making a big deal over five threads used to contain discussion so the forum isn't overrun. Not sure what the big deal is? If you don't care don't click? And it's only 5 threads?

I think the threads are fine. I'm not having difficulty finding other threads of interest, and I'm genuinely interested in the game reviews and other aspects of the 360 even though i'm not purchasing one.

I guess the intent of '1/only' in the subject is so people won't start additional threads on the same subject?

No big deal, I just think there are too many '1/only' threads. For some reason, after seeing it so much, the phrase has lost all meaning to me.

With all the Xbox 360 activity, I don't see how you could keep it organized in a manner that will make everyone happy. At least it should die down over time.
