Um, Charles In Charge...of our wrongs and our rights?!
Yess!! Nicole Eggert...Josie Bissett (later years)...a winning combo!
And I actually liked the show while growing up.
What was the name of that diner that they hung out in sometimes?

Nicole Eggert wasn't on the 1st season of Charles in Charge. This version aired on CBS in 1984 and was canned after 1 season. Nicole and Josie Davis was on the 1987 version that aired in syndication. If I remember correctly, the 1st season sucked, I would save my money and get season 2 (if they release it) which I thought was much funnier and the chemistry between Baio and Willie Aames (Buddy) was great. Plus Nicole Eggert was really cute at 17.

I'll definitely get the Charles in Charge. I have season 1 on tape from original broadcasts, but I'll still buy it. And yes, the 2nd cast is better, but there are some notable guests in season one. Two appearances by Christina Applegate, two by Meg Ryan, one by Kathy Ireland, one by Matthew Perry.

Wasn't Charles in Charge the one where Buddy Lembeck played an over the top hyper doofus who was played by the guy from Eight is Enough? His character was so over the top, it was actually funny.

Yea, Charles in Charge Season 1 was with the Pembrokes. Not as good as the Eggert years (forgot the name of the family), but still worth a chuckle.

In the first season the character of Buddy Lembeck wasn't a complete doofus as he became after the show came back in first run syndication. In the first season he's a little goofy, a little quirky, but still halfway intelligent. After the reboot of the show when it was revived for first run syndication Buddy became goofier and less intelligent as the show went on.
The first season was really pretty good, and featured a guest role from a very young Meg Ryan. It was a great family show. I may actually get this to watch with my daughter.

I've been waiting for charles in charge to be released forever. They actually started re-broadcasting the reruns here in nyc and it's been a nightly fix for me thru the magic of tivo. Charles in charge is one of the only shows i could still watch today on a regular basis and not get tired of it or have a hard time reminding myself why i use to like it.
I also re-watched the 1st season and though it's not as good as the 2nd and later seasons. It's not bad at all and does have many funny parts. Hopefully paramount doesn't put that much stock in sales for the 1st season and hold off future CiC releases. That would be a bad bad mistake and very disappointing. That cover doesn't look like it's gonna help them either.

Little trivia: I named my first pet after Buddy from this show. I'll definitely pick this up.

I remember when Nickelodeon was showing Charles reruns a year or two ago. I would get up at 5 am, start the VCR, and go back to bed. I don't know why I just didn't set it. I made about 6 or 7 tapes.

I remember back in High School having a HUGE Crush on Kari Michaelson, who played the oldest daughter on "Gimme a Break.

Any info on the second seasons of these shows or are these in TV-DVD limbo land? Canada is getting S2 of Gimme A Break on 10/3, but I'd rather have matching U.S. sets if it's coming soon.
