I was disapointed a bit in Season 1 because they killed off Wild Bill so soon. What's the timeline of the 2nd season? The 1st season was about 1876 has the 2nd season moved on a bit ? I don't have HBO either.

You probably know this, but Wild Bill's quick demise is based in history; he didn't survive long in Deadwood. I do agree that it's disappointing -- Carradine's performance was wonderful.

I understand that Wild Bill didn't last long historically in Deadwood, but I would of liked them to stretch his time out a bit more for television's sake, since he's one of my favorite western characters, that's all.

Wild Bill was awesome. You could say the same about calamity jane. She comes back in year 2, but it seems a bit forced this time and has lost her magic. I guess historically she did come back and die in deadwood. Im assuming she goes in season 3.
Season 2 is good, but it gets a little too smart for its own good at times. Some peeps i know were put off when they went off the deep end with political scheming and such. Still, the start of season 2, the first 3 eps or so are the best of the series, it then wanes a bit in the middle and finishes strong.

Frankly, I was disappointed in Season 2. I felt it was much inferior to the 1st season, but that (for me) was also true of The Wire, with Season 3 bringing back much of the excellent writing and acting of the first season. So, I'm hoping the third season of Deadwood can show a comeback. That series and Band of Brothers are some the best TV ever programmed.
