Giant Food (MD) has War of the Worlds LE for $19.99!

For us Marylanders, Giant Food Has the 2 disc War of the Worlds LE pictured in their ad (page 17) for $19.99. I know this is a mistake so use this to your advantage to price match at Circuit City or Best Buy.

Was this ad mailed to you, put in a newspaper, or is it available in-store? I never see anything from them as far as ads go and I go there like once a week anyway (so I see anything that would be on the ads). Good find, by the way!

The ad was from the Sunday paper, but I just checked and you can view the ad online at giantfood.com.

This also applies to Giant's sister company in the Northeast, Stop and Shop. It is also $19.99 with the same misprint.

Is this the same version that is listed in the Stop and Shop ad this week for $19.99? I can't make out Limited Edition, but the cover has the alien hand surrounding the world...is this it? and will they honor this price?

Thanks!

I printed out the page and will have Best Buy match it.

Wow, I didn't realize this deal would apply to other states when I found it. Yes it is the two disc LE pictured in the ad (a little clearer in the printed ad) and as far as I know, the LE is the only one available with that cover.

There's a really clear picture on the interactive circular on the Stop and Shop website (and I'd assume the Giant one too)

Now here's my dilemma. I am going to PM this at BB, but which way should I do it? I have $3 BBB I will apply to it plus a $3 coupon (from Madagascar). So, if I went to BB and asked for a PM straight off I would get it for $19.99 minus $6 for a total of $13.99 (and hopefully get the BB exclusive book too).
Or, I could buy it for full price (think it was $24.99) and apply coupon and BBB for a total of $18.99 then go back in and PM it for 10% off which technically should make it $19.99 - 10% - $6 = $11.99
What do you guys think?

somehow I think you will get hung up there....with a price match and coupon and BBB..... i think it will be either one or the other, unless you get real lucky........
Me ~~I am just hoping giant food honors their own price. They are notorious for putting up misprice notices in their stores, and sorry for the inconvience crap..........
(here's an ideal situation, it rings up 25.99 or whatever it is normal, you show the ad that its 19.99.....and they give it to you free cause it scanned wrong) not likely but one can wish.......(they have done it on other items for us before like chips and such, just never tried it with a dvd before)
good luck with your attempt though.....

its one or the other...never both, plus Stop and Shop is not a major competitor to BB so you maybe out of luck on all accounts..

I got my copy at the Manchester, Ct. Stop and Shop. It's priced $36.99 in store with a "Save $10.00 with your card" sticker. They matched the price even though they knew it was a misprint on the version in the ad. It's supposed to be the single disc'er for $19.99.

Thanks OP! Sweet deal.

FWIW, I stopped by the Giant Food in Ellicott City off of Route 108. They had no copies in stock saying they didn't have any delivered, but they were selling copies of Polar Express so there was a delivery of new DVDs yesterday.

I don't know if the delay in stocking is due to issues with LE vs. single disc. There were no notices in the store saying that there was a price correction, though.

I grabbed a circular in case, though, in case I feel like battling with a Best Buy employee later today for the price.

My Best Buy cashier accepted the Giant coupon no problems. Also picked up the companion book, WoW TV series for $14.99 and the last one of the King Kong Best Buy exclusive sets.

well, I went to the frederick , md giant on rt 26 first thing before the dentist tuesday, and they said same thing, none received.......so went to dentist, then hit best buy with the ad, to see what i could do. Well, very surprised when they allowed not only the price match on the 2disc for 19.99, but the manufacturer coupon for 3$ as well. net sale = 17.99 for the deluxe edition (not going to argue over 15cents tax), not bad and got the crummy screenplay book to boot........

I got this at Best Buy today for $13.99 with the book of the screenplay (for RZ members). I PM'ed the mistake in the Stop & Shop flyer (grocery store - $19.99), used $3 off coupon from Madagascar and $3 BBB. Quite happy with that!

Customer service almost didn't accept the Giant ad for a price match, but in the end they did. Out the door for $10.49... $19.99 price match minus $10.00 reward zone coupon plus tax.

Went to BB earlier tonight, took the LE up to a cashier, said I need a price match and that was that. Only comment out of the cashier was "Wow, that's a good price for this set." I just said yep, it was, and that the only reason I was pricematching was because Giant would be a madhouse the day before Thanksgiving.

Thanks to the OP, would have never noticed this deal if it hadn't been pointed out.

After picking up a flyer at Giant here in Springfield, VA, Best Buy priced matched it with no problem. I then used my Best Buy Bucks on top of that. Good deal. Thanks boss429.

FYI, Best Buy was already selling this at $24.99, so it was only another $5 off with the price match.

FYI for the New Englanders: Stop & Shop still has the 2-disc pictured for $19.99 in next week's flyer (effective tomorrow).
