Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (2006)

I guess it's finally happening. This was announced so long ago and no mention of it since that I assumed it was never to become reality.

Here's hoping it's as good as Pirates of the Caribbean.

Also, Jordan Mechner is writing it so that's a definite plus.

This is interesting. PotC is a good analogy. I thought that would be horrible but turned out pretty good.

I hope Uwe Boll is directing it.

You're giving 50 Cent a bit too much credit there. Grand Theft Auto is a good series. A Grand Theft Auto movie would deserve an "actor" (and not someone with down syndrome) playing the lead role.

Well Jordan Mechner early on had stated that it wouldn't be an adaptation of any of the games (which leads me to assume that the subtitle is to draw in the fans of the fourth game in the series) but rather a new story that weaves together elements that have been present in the first four games. Kind of how Pirates of the Caribbean had certain homages to the ride but was actually a fantasy/adventure story all its own.

There has yet to be a movie that is excellent that is based on a videogame, actually, even good. Don't give me that Mortal Kombat crap, either. A movie based on Maniac Mansion would be awesome, though or a straight adaptation of Another World (better title and original title of Out of this World) without any understood dialogue.

Think it's more the "Well, after 20 chances they still haven't got it right." than getting back to the glory days of Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter.

The story for Prince of Persia was pretty simple and straightforward, so as long as they don't mess that up, it should be pretty fun. And as long as they get the acrobatics and stunts right, I'll be happy: http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/...erobatics.html

It sounds like it could be interesting. Though it seems that the name is only necessary to draw in the game's fan base. It reminds me a little of the new Miami Vice movie, in that regard.
