This trade has been proposed in my league and seems suspect to me. It seems lopsided. Feedback?

R. Wayne
A. Gates

M. Robinson
H. Miller
D. Brees
Philadelphia

I'd rather have the top half. You can't start a better TE than Gates, Wayne is starting to come around, I'd rather have the Pittsburgh D, and McNabb is at least as good as Brees.

McNabb may not play another snap this season. Depending on the extent of his injury, I would probably veto this trade. The top player gets the better deal in every respect. If McNabb is out for the season, this trade may be okay.

See, that's what is giving me hesitation. Without McNabb, I'd consider this an OK trade. But, there's no way to know if he's going to shut it down for the rest of the year, so that's what's giving me issues w/ it.

Terrible trade, even if you knew right now that McNabb was done for the season. It all depends on the scoring system, of course, but why take a fairly significant drop at both tight end and wide receiver and a smaller drop at defense just to get Brees (a guy who is ranked somewhere between 11-15 amongst QB's in most of my leagues)? There are no quarterbacks available in free agency nor does he have a halfway decent back-up?

Is that Marcus Robinson?
Daryl's analysis is in line with mine. I would veto, be insulted, and cross my fingers and act sheepish - depending if I were commissioner, being offered the trade, or offered the trade.
P.S. As a guy who traded Gates earlier this season, I would like to interject that unless you are getting Shaun Alexander, LaDanian, or Steve Smith back, trading Gates is a bad move! :(

To be fair, I haven't checked either of their teams to see if if they've got other stud players, so I don't know if this is filling holes or whatnot.

for
M. Robinson
H. Miller
E. Moulds
D. Brees
M. Vanderjagt

It looks like a terrible deal, and probably should be veoted. The top team gains in every area, and the trade is position for position, so it's not really a need/depth issue.
EDIT: Now I see the new deal. It's better, but it might be an attempt to just skirt the rules and get a few studs before the playoffs. Other than Gates, there are no real must have players, but the top team is better in most important areas I geuss I'd let the new one pass w/o more info, although it is suspicious.

Yeah, those "shotgun" trades smell like they are trying to obfuscate the meat of the trade.
Let's throw out the waiver-wire type players (and the damn kickers and shitty D's for heavens sake): G Lewis, M Robinson. So now you have Gates, Big Ben and Wayne for Heath Miller, Moulds and Brees.
Hell, to me it's really Wayne and Gates for Moulds and Miller. Brees averages about a point a week over Ben - not worth the spread.
All I am willing to say without being in the league, seeing each team, and knowing the scoring system is that there is NO DOUBT I'd take the side with Reggie and Gates.

Yup.
I am a Marvin Harrison owner, so i'm not wild that Reggie is doing well, but I'd put him on my team. As for Gates....NO BRAINER.

you can not veto that. unless you have some proof of collusion no trade should ever be vetoed. it's a bit one-sided....but Miller has been scoring a lot and maybe that guy thinks he'll continue to do so.
vetoing stupid trades is akin to legislating morality....just doesn't work. let it go.

Only a fool or a cheater would trade away Gates, especially for what he's getting (nada). This deal really, really stinks.

:hscratch:
No, I can vote to veto is. I don't ultimately make the decision, but if I feel that the trade is lopsided and is clearly benefitting one person (such as a player dump) I'll voice my opinion.

To be honest, if I'm losing Wayne and Gates and now the Indy D (a top 3 Def in most leagues I'm in) - I better be getting more than just some marginal improvements to 2nd and 3rd tier players in return. But that's just me.
Regardless, as brizz said, I don't see how it should be vetoed, unless you have evidence of player loaning, collusion, one team purposely throwing in the towel, etc. "Bad trades" on their own should not be vetoed. All it does is create bad blood and ill will amongst the owners. I've seen some really bad trades in my leagues, but that's how it goes. All you can do is register your disapproval in some fashion if you want (league message board, email) and move on

You will rarely (if ever) get any evidence of cheating, unless one of the cheating parties admits to it. IMO, since this trade is apparently so lopsided these 2 owners should have to defend their reasons for the trade, if not to the whole league at least to the commish.
What are the records of the teams involved? Is the guy on the short end of the trade historically a dumbass?

My team is the one actually getting Gates and Wayne but he really wants the bengals and Brees.... i think he just doesnt trust mcnabb. I mean Akers sucks and i dont plan on even playing him and Lewis and rothelisburger i dont even trust.....
Miller is always going to play. So is moulds and Vanderjagt and robinson.
I accepted because i like gates and Wayne and the indianapolis defense.. but akers and lewis i might drop.

The trade looks like a clear win for the guy getting Gates, but I don't see it as so inbalanced that it should be vetoed. To me, that sort of rule is there for something a lot more blatently one-sided.

Lewis=Robinson
Akers=Vanderjagt
Bengals=Colts
The above are all even in my eyes. Thus you are trading [[Moulds, Miller and Brees]] for [[Wayne, Gates and Roth]]. He comes out only slightly better at QB and gets raped at WR and TE. How is this fair? He proposed this?! He must be a dumbass.

he is getting players that he can start and i am only getting 3 that i will start. No idea why he wants all those players but if you do the math he will be getting equal sides...

He could get players off waivers that are better than what you're giving him. At the very least, to make this trade marginally fair, take Gates out of the deal. That i could agree is fair. Not that I blame you for accepting it. Great trade for you. He proposed it, you accepted. I don't see any reason to veto that.

I've been in your situation: where someone offers me a trade that clearly benefits me without any instigation. You would be a saint or a moron to decline such a gift.
On the other hand, please don't blow smoke up our collective asses that the trade remotely makes sense. In case you didn't notice, no one who has responded favors the other guys side of it....
