Any fans of the Eels?: The "Blinking Lights (and Other Revelations)" Project

I've been listening to this album lately and coming to appreciate it more. I never really gave it a shot when I first picked it up due to its length but it is definitely their best album since "Electro-Shock Blues".

That being said, this double album contains the normal amount of double album filler. In the tradition of the "White" album, help me make a superior one disc version of the LP.

Tracklisting:

Disc One:
1. Theme From Blinking Lights
2. From Which I Came/A Magic World
3. Son Of A Bitch
4. Blinking Lights (For Me)
5. Trouble With Dreams
6. Marie Floating Over The Backyard
7. Suicide Life
8. In The Yard, Behind The Church
9. Railroad Man
10. The Other Shoe
11. Last Time We Spoke
12. Mother Mary
13. Going Fetal
14. Understanding Salesmen
15. Theme For A Pretty Girl That Makes You Believe God Exists
16. Checkout Blues
17. Blinking Lights (For You)

1. Dust Of Ages
2. Old Shit/New Shit
3. Bride Of Theme From Blinking Lights
4. Hey Man (Now You're Really Living)
5. I'm Going To Stop Pretending That I Didn't Break Your Heart
6. To Lick Your Boots
7. If You See Natalie
8. Sweet Li'l Thing
9. Dusk: A Peach In The Orchard
10. Whatever Happened To Soy Bomb
11. Ugly Love
12. God's Silence
13. Losing Streak
14. Last Days Of My Bitter Heart
15. The Stars Shine In The Sky Tonight
16. Things The Grandchildren Should Know

My one disc mix:

Theme From Blinking Lights
Dust of Ages
Suicide Life
Trouble With Dreams
Hey Man (Now You're Really Living)
If You See Natalie
In The Yard, Behind The Church
Last Time We Spoke
Old Shit/New Shit
I'm Going To Stop Pretending That I Didn't Break Your Heart
Whatever Happened To Soy Bomb
Ugly Love
Going Fetal
To Lick Your Boots
The Other Shoe
Sweet Li'l Thing
Blinking Lights (For Me)
Losing Streak
Checkout Blues
Things The Grandchildren Should Know
Bride Of Theme From Blinking Lights

i enjoy it, but yeah, it is pretty lengthy and some of the songs aren't really good enough to warrant an inclusion/expansion to 2 discs.

I'm a big Eels fan but haven't really followed their last few releases. They lost me with Souljacker. I do love Electroshock Blues though, and Daisies of the Galaxy is underrated (any album that sticks its radio single in as an unlisted hidden track is awesomely ballsy). Eels fans should also check out E's solo album A Man Called E.

I've been meaning to pick up A Man Called E for ages.

Souljacker did suck but you should check out Blinking Lights if you enjoyed ESB.

I really like this one, but will probably always be partial to Daisies of the Galaxy. Something about that album I just can't get over.

Maybe I will throw this in and try to figure out which songs are my favorite. Right now the album is just being playing in a large playlist shuffle on my iPod in my car.

Interesting. I have Souljacker only, and thought it was a great album. What don't you like about it, and what makes it different from other 'good' albums?

auto, I would definately put "Things the grandchildren should know" at the end of your mix (if it were mine of course) but otherwise I agree with all your picks!

Actually, I put that song as the second to last track. I decided to begin my mix with "Theme from Blinking Lights" and end it with "Bride of...".

I updated the first post with my mix.
