There are some user reviews at Amazon.com that indicate that it looks pretty bad.
I also wondered if all of the music is intact.
Does anyone have any links to any reviews? Is it scheduled for any of the DVDTalk reviewers?

The studio didn't bother to send review copies until our editor pestered them for one. It's supposedly on the way now but I haven't received it yet.

A shame about the picture quality. Too bad that Sony/MGM wouldn't license this out to Anchor Bay or Blue Underground or someone who would (presumably) give it a decent new transfer. As it is, I doubt that I'll even rent it, much less buy it, and this was a title I was excited about.

Thanks for the reference to my review. I forgot to bump this thread.
Honestly, I think Anchor Bay or Blue Underground would be even less likely to remaster the video. Since they are not the original rights holders, they'd likely have to rely on the same old broadcast master MGM used.
Oh, in answer to one of your original questions, as far as I can tell all of the original music is intact. There are a bunch of licensed tunes on the soundtrack that are pretty much where I remembered them, including the big shootout to "House of the Rising Sun".
