Hello all !

The help I need is your experienced opinions in this machine. I just bought one at Best Buy as they had all of their DVD/VCR Recorders on sale. My purpose is to finally transfer all of our old family videos to disc so I needed a good vcr player / dvd recorder unit that was easy to operate and would make really great copies on disc. I haven't opened it yet as I wish to take it back if I hear a lot of negativity about it as I am unsure even though the Best Buy rep said it was the best one in the store.

To those who know, what do you think I should do? Keep it or get something else? If I do keep it, what are the best discs I should buy I make my family archives on this machine? Thank you so much in advance...

with kindest regards,

Galina

Taiyo Yuden discs are the best. www.supermediastore.com often has good deals.

I don't know about that particular model. www.videohelp.com might have some reviews. Sony's DVDRs have been pretty decent (although expensive), but you never know what these companies do with the combo units. I've heard good things about the LG/Zenith combo units, that they don't make them extra crappy compared to their standard models. Unlike Panasonic, who always puts the crappiest parts they can find into the combos (or just OEMs them from another company), even when their standard models are some of the best.
