Well, thinking that Ernest Wilford was a one-week wonder (though I still picked him up), I started Mike Williams as my third WR instead. Just letting you guys know, because Wilford is sure to stink it up when I start him THIS week.
Anyone know if Akers is healthy enough to kick again? I need a bye week replacement for a kicker, and he didn't play last week...
Also, condolences to all the Priest Holmes and Terrell Owens owners out there. Congrats to the LJ fans.

Wow, Barber, Dunn, and Alexander? geez. And look at those defenses they're going up against! Plus Mike Anderson.
I'm forced to start Favre this week with Palmer on a bye. I've been holding him all this time for this one week, and I'm very, very nervous. Personally, if I had Plummer and Favre, I'd pick Plummer this week, since Favre has had two pretty bad weeks in a row, his weapons are all gone, and he's throwing interceptions like crazy. There's always the chance he could go off, but the downside is much bigger than Plummer's.

His lack of production this year has pissed me off almost as much as Jamal Lewis'. I'd like to dump both, but I'm thin at RB. The fact that both have no passing threat doesn't help either. I think Jones is going to be stuck on my bench the rest of the season. Thank goodness for Ronnie Brown.

The only advice I need this week is how should I celebrate the soon to be announced retirement of Priest Holmes?
Yes I have LJ (along with LT, Manning, Gates, Moss, Horn, Wayne, and Dunn and M. Anderson as my backups rbs).
For extra added celebratory material, my main competition (he just lost his first game) has Priest, Owens, and McNabb! The new phrase I have been throwing around my league (to replace 'Owned') is 'Owened'. Ahhh...good times, good times...

In one of my leagues, somebody tried to get slick and offer me Holmes this morning. :thmbsdwn:
Maybe I should pick up Wayne Crebet and offer it to him for Holmes as a counter-offer, one "retiring this week" player for another.

Currently second place, 1 game back at 7 - 2. Lost this week on a fluke.
PS. Welker starts because we get points for each 10 return yards.

I have both TO and LJ so it's been an interesting week. Unfortunately, I'm already thin at WR with Boldin out and my collection of busts like Michael Clayton, Keary Colbert, and Brandon Stokley. Last week I started Stokely, Antonio Chatman, and Jabar Gaffney. Ugh!
Any advice on who to start, particularly Barber or Droughns? Thanks.
If Barber is starting I think you start him, if he's not you go with Droughns. PIT D is a lot tougher to run on than PHI.

If not for Joe Horn being on a bye week, I would have actually had 3 WRs playing that I had confidence in, with Driver and Lelie being the other 2. Since D-Jax has went down with his knee injury, my WR spot has been like a merry-go-round.
I picked up Lelie last week off waivers. He's finally put together a few good games lately. My WR3 this week is...drumroll please.......Charles Rogers. He's forced to play since everyone else is hurt. I hope the former #2 pick finally does something positive. If he treats the chalk on the field like crack, then I may have my sleeper this week.
I'm 6-3 with another tough matchup this week. D-Jax comes back the 27th, just in time for the playoffs. Finally!

Red Dog: I like Hasselbeck vs STL and Collins vs Denver. Bailey will probably play vs OAK, but he'll still be a bit limited. STL has no secondary, and should have the offense to keep SEA from just running Alexander all day.

WR: S. Moss (vs TB), Ward (vs CLE but with Batch), R. Brown [my, and the Eagles', TO replacement] (vs DAL)

I have an interesting question this week. I am currently preparing for the playoff run, since I have the best team in the league(8-1). The problem rests with my franchise running back, Edgerrin James. If the Colts keep playing like they are, they will have homefield advantage sewn up by the beginning of the fantasy playoffs(week 15), and will sit their stars in prep for the real playoffs.
I do not currently have Dominic Rhodes on my roster, and definitely should at this point. The problem is, I do not really have any wasted roster spots. I have a backup QB, a backup WR, and two backup RBs. The backup RBs are currently Fraud Taylor and Tatum Bell. I am thinking of dumping Bell and picking up Rhodes for the playoff run, but that could be a costly mistake if Bell starts getting the majority of carries in the Broncos running game. I could drop my backup receiver and live with what I have, and pick up another if I need it, as there are several serviceable receivers on the WW.
I need to pick up Rhodes ASAP, but am too happy with my team to pull the trigger. Every Colts win it gets a little more obvious that Rhodes will get in there for the FF playoffs (and a game vs AZ in week 17, the superbowl). My opponents will realize this sooner or later.
Here is my roster, we play QB, 2RB, 3WR, WR/RB, WR/TE, TE, DEF, K
QB: Carson Palmer
RB: Edgerrin James, Clinton Portis
WR: Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, Eric Moulds
TE: Tony Gonzales
WR/RB: Julius Jones
WR/TE: Joe Jurevicious
K: Neil Rackers
Defense: Jacksonville
Bench: Matt Hasselbeck, Andre Johnson, Fred Taylor, Tatum Bell
Any advice out there? Drop Bell? Drop Jurevicious since DJax is returning soon? Drop my backup QB that could be of use if Carson Palmer stumbles or if an opponent picks him up for the future and the soft SEA schedule?
Damn tough decision. Thank you for reading.

Unless you can make a trade, I would dump Jurevicious since D-Jax is coming back and Jurevicios hasnt exactly been lighting the world on fire. Andre Johnson did ok last week so he could fill in. (or screw you over big time)

 seems easy to me.
I do think you are probably over-thinking Rhodes, though. I can't fault your analysis, but planning on Rhodes for the playoffs is fraught with uncertainty. I also don't think your team is a dominant as your record - unless it's a 12-14 team league and the guys with LT and Alexander have no one else. You have a top 5 QB, 1 top 5 RB and the best K and WR. It's a nice team, but take away Smith and it looks pretty average. Anyway, I hope it works out for you like you think it may...
Good luck!

Someone in my league traded Marcus Pollard for Hines Ward. Is there any way this isnt a vetoable trade? Last place team traded Ward to the 4th place team. I dont really want to accuse anyone of collusion and the last place team has been around every week trying to make his team better. And the last place team actually did improve his TE position, but it just seems like a terrible trade. Should it be vetoed?

Should it be vetoed?
You know, it depends. On first blush, yes. But looking at their stats, it's not so far off base. Depends on scoring system, league trading deadline, depends on FA TE's, and depends on the last place teams other WR's.
But generally, I would vote to veto a trade if the last place team has no reasonable shot to make the playoffs and it's a week before the league trading deadline.
EDIT: so, to be specific, if the last place team has a shot to make the playoffs, I would not veto.

NO.
Pollard is the primary RZ target in Detroit....Ward has Charlie Batch throwing to him..there is plenty of rationale for such a trade. I hate how people want to veto every friggin trade they don't like. Trades should ONLY be vetoed if there is substantial evidence for obvious collusion. stupid trades don't count.

I dont think trades should be vetoed just because its stupid. It just seems a little fishy when an 0-9 team trades a good WR like Ward (and Roethlisberger will be back soon) to the 4th place team, especially for someone like Pollard.
Another thing is that this 0-9 team hasnt submitted his lineup for this week and we cant get ahold of him. Its possible that he just gave up and said "Fuck it."

I hope Scottie Vines repeats his performance from last week for Detroit. I stuck him in my 3rd WR slot instead of C. Rogers. But someone in my league dropped Derrick Mason today. He's on waivers until Wednesday and I just put my claim in. He's only scored 1 td this year, but usually puts up yardage and catches, which gets pts in my league. If I get him, my revolving door at WR will finally stop. I almost traded for him a few weeks ago with Ronnie Brown, glad I didn't pull the trigger.
Anyone else using Michael Bennett today? I'm sick of Kevin Jones and Jamal Lewis, so Bennett is my guy this week.

Ouch.
I'm thinking of dropping Bennett (again) because he played horribly, even though Tice rode him all day (same thing with Jamal Lewis in Baltimore... anyone watch these games?). And Mewelde was well enough to play on special teams...
Wilford predictably did jack now that I promoted him to the starting lineup... what a week for Steve Smith to do nothing. Picked up Matt Jones, but why do I need two Jacksonville recievers? Ugh.
I needed Pitt D to destroy Cleveland, and Cleveland scores off a blocked FG... that has nothing to do with the defense! I blame Maddox, who can't hit a reciever to save his life. Unless Witten scores a couple TDs tomorrow, it's another loss for my team... even Shaun Alexander couldn't save me against a team that started superstud Roy Williams...

Every time I bench Kevin Jones, he plays well. I would've already won today if I had him or Lewis in. Or even DeShaun Foster. That's how freakin bad Michael Bennett did.
LJ Smith needs to score 2.1 pts and I'll win my 7th game. He practiced Friday and is supposed to be in the lineup. I think he'll get it done since there will be no T.O. getting the ball.

Hmm, that brings up an interesting point...
Going into tonights MNF game, I'm down 17 with my TE and K left. I know, seems like a lost cause. I have Akers at kicker, but which TE do people think would score more: Witten or LJ Smith? I thought Witten would be obvious because of Phillie's defense and LJ not getting in on the action much last week even before his injury, but now I'm not so sure.

I started Kelly Holcombe, yet I am only down five points going into tonight's game w/ Terry Glenn in my lineup. :D

TE's at that level are ultimately a crap shoot, but I would start Witten. Probably because I have LJ and he has been relatively quiet after a great start. Also, he was injured during the week and only recently was confirmed to be playing....

Well, you know McNabb is going to pass at least 50 times. Surely LJ will get some of those. He's their top option on goal line plays. Hopefully they'll get a few chances. I'm not sweatin' it. A couple of catches and I win.

:mad2:
ETA: I still hate them, but just a tiny bit less.
