My friends and I were having this interesting discussion earlier today. Whats the most popular team thats hardly, if ever, in the discussion when popular teams are talked about. You know theres the Yankees, Sox, Dodgers the Lakers in b-ball, Red Wings in hockey, Green Bay in football...the Cowboys are 'Americas Team'
I argue a popular team no one really thinks about is the Cleveland Browns. Obviously, this is more of a long term thing...not exactly the last few years, but the Browns have a rabid fanbase in Cleveland and extends all over. They have clubs nationally and internationally all over. The bar down the street from me is where the Browns Backers meet here in San Jose and one of the members was telling me they have these Browns Backers clubs all over the US, Europe, Japan, Australia, Africa, South America...pretty much anywhere there is a TV.
