Does anyone know when Lucas will be putting together the ultimate box set for all 6 Star Wars movies? I am pretty sure it will be something special with all sorts of extras and goodies...Think so?

My guess: Next Christmas or the 30th Anniversary.

And this couldn't go in the "double dipping" thread, because?

Because I am a newbie and had no idea it existed...Sorry General..

2007 makes the most sense -- 30th anniversary of the first film, and also the proposed release year of the new live-action TV show. The marketing and cross-promotion campaigns practically write themselves.

I would bet that 2006 is pretty quiet in terms of Star Wars DVD news, in an attempt to build up a bit of interest in another 'big release' the following year.

I'd set the over/under at 18 months from the release of Ep. III. That puts us at about May, the 30th Anniversary.

2007 might see the release of a repackaged Saga Set including the existing DVDs, as-is, so all you'll really be paying for the pretty new box Lucasfilm will no doubt come up with and perhaps some quickie exclusive bonus disc they throw together with little odds and ends and promotional tie-in crap.

But if the question really is, "When are we going to see the ultimate box set with all the goodies they intentionally withheld from the first releases?" then I would say we probably won't see that until Blu-Ray...and not until Blu-Ray really takes hold and has enough households for LFL to make a ton of money off of (just like they did with standard DVD.)
