I was called into work on Halloween, slow night thankfully, and was informed the 3 for $25 sale started on Tuesday. All previously viewed DVD's priced $9.99 and up are eligible. Pretty good selection at my location, anyway, with titles as recent as "Robots", "Unleashed", "High Tension", and "The Amityville Horror". Good time for Christmas presents, and blind buys on the Summer blockbusters.

I hope my Hollywood has some more recent titles. I got Saw and Hellboy for $10 last week, and if you can find a good selection, the 5 $7.99 or less DVDs for $20 is a great deal.

Don't forget Undead, normal PVD price should be $12.99 - its got the guy with a gas mask and big-ass-gun on the front. It is a trippy aussie zombie/sci-fi movie that took its sweet time getting here. Oddball and very entertaining.

Havent been to mine in a while and wandering if they carry uncut/unrated movies? Specifically - Hight tension unrated, saw uncut, unleashed unrated or just the regular versions?? Last time they didnt have Harold and Kumar go to white caste unrated, but they did have anchorman unrated so is it a ymmv issue or do all stores have same selection nationwide.

Hollywood only has the rated version of Unleashed, unfortunately, didn't see the others. Blockbuster has the unrated version of Unleashed however, if their 3/25, is still going on.

You guys are lucky, I went out to 2 closes HV stores. ONE HAD 3 FOR $30, I wanted to print this thread out and ask if they would honor the 3 for $25. The other had 3 for $25 but both didnt have that good of a selection. Nothing relatively new except "The longest yard", no unleashed, saw uncut, high tension, mindhunters, very dissapointing. Hopefully they get some new/good stuff in before the 3 for $25 deal goes away. But as far as the Philadelphia/Bucks County, PA. HV go ...nothing good :hairpull:

I would doubt any place will sell off Saw Uncut. Usually if a different edition comes out after the original edition, most rental places just update their rental inventory by 1 or 2 copies (if any). By then the original edition is already in their PVDs.
Besides you would miss out on the groovy blood cover.

Sale is in effect at HWV in Towson, MD and Ellicott City, MD. As for big surprise, the Towson store had signs up that they were going to offer employee discounts to all shoppers on video games in the GameStop store over Thanksgiving holiday. Sale signs for that were up at one store, but not the other. Discount looks like 20% off.

I went and picked up Layer Cake, Hotel Rwanda and Nobody Knows today. None of which I have seen, but I've been waiting for Layer Cake to get down to a reasonable price and I've been dying to see Nobody Knows and was surprised they had it. I couldn't decide on a third movie so I went with Hotel Rwanda which I've been wanting to see (plus, I absolutely love Don Cheadle).

Nope on the both of them down here. I asked cashier, and he said its usually 6 weeks. So we have a long painful wait..

Inside Deepthroat is the rated-R version. I just can't understand the point of making a cut like that.

They do, they used to have a pattern you could use to predict what they would carry, but recently it has been all over the map. For example, they carried both rated and unrated versions of Ring2 and both the "neutered" and NC-17 versions of A Dirty Shame.

One DVD i bought was opened but never watched. The other 2 were in excellent condition. Just a little dust and a minor smudge here or there. My strategy is usually to look for the box that looks like it is in the best condition. I open the disc box in the car and look for scratches. When there are scratches, I immediately bring them back. The return policy varies but usually you can bring them back for credit or refund without a problem with your reciept. To me the deal is a better deal than the DDD sale. 8.33 cents for new releases.

As of this month, it's a LIFETIME GUARANTEE on all PV'ed DVD's. The best trick is, if you purchase PV's regularly, buy the "guaranteed in stock" titles. They get more titles, which result in fewer actual rentals each disc, thus better condition/quality. I always check my customers PV's for quality before selling them. The hole-in-the-wall Hollywood stores are best. Low renting numbers, high volume.
We do carry unrated material, and the "Land of the Dead" PV time quote was correct. Hollywood offers a little sheet that states when to expect movies to hit PVM. "Land of the Dead" was quoted as 3 weeks after its release date. That said, the store has to have enough copies to make available for rent before they make them available for sale as used.

I was hoping to find Undead at my Hollywood, but it's still up there as a new release and they don't even have it used yet.
It was truly difficult for the find much of anything that I was truly interested in anyway.
Even though there are more "guaranteed in stock" titles, my HV seems to always rent them out when I"m there for at least two weeks if not more.
