When the Skins play a Sunday Night game, one of the local broadcast affiliates will also carry the game (since not everyone has cable/sat). I believe that usually ABC7 does it, but now that Sunday night is a big ratings night for ABC, they probably declined, so UPN20 stepped in.

Perhaps, but a Indy win here would be a big big confidence builder toward a potential January meeting.
This matchup reminds me of when the '91 Skins were 7-0 and rolled into Giants Stadium to take on the defending champ and 4-3 Giants. The Giants had won 6 straight over the Skins. Giants jumped out to a 13-0 HT lead but the Skins came back and won 17-13. Huge emotional hurdle for them - they were a juggernaut the rest of the season.

so many shit games this week. I am catching up in my straight-up pool, having gone 11-3 last week. I'm stuck this week between a few key games, one being whether the Skins will even show up this week. They've played well at home, but they'll be a ton of Philly fans at Fedex, so who knows if that'll even come into play.
I guess it's not a good idea to pick Minn, Houston (who won, I believe, their only game of the season) or GB for the rest of the season. Chicago at NO bothers me some (guess I'll go with Chi). Oak at KC is iffy as well.
Here are my picks. Feel free to comment on any or all games:

I know. I'm going to have to change a few to home teams, I imagine. I'm waiting for Mel Kiper to make his picks on Tony Kornheiser's radio show. He's been dead on and has good insight. I'm now thinking of switching to the Redskins, Minn., and Tenn (all home teams). The Skins HAVE to win this week and Philly with a shit defense, hurt McNabb, and possibly out Owens, the Skins (assuming they revert to their old selves) should win the game. Tenn based on the fact that they've got more playmakers (all this according to Mel Kiper) and Minn since Detroit really is that bad. It's still a toss up between all these three, so it's not a comfortable decision. Still must do more research....

To expand a bit, ESPN almost always offers the Sunday night game to local channels in the two teams' home cities. ABC (and any local station owned by the local ABC) gets first crack, and then the rest can take it if they like. Usually nobody picks it up, although I guess in DC they do.

I also need a good week in my pool to catch up with the leaders. Here is what I am leaning towards in this week's games (first I will post the games I agree with you on and then in the end the games I disagree with). Let me know your thoughts.
SD, JAX, KC, ATL, CHI, NYG, SEA, CINCI (all games I agee with you)
TENN and MINN (I like these picks also. And you went with these picks also in your latest post).
CAR vs TB: I am leaning towards Tampa in this game. Tampa is coming off a horrible game. I am thinking that they will be pumped up for this game at home against a division rival. Still, Tampa is shaky at QB and Carolina is good against the run. All statistics point towards a Carolina win. But I have a gut feeling that Tampa is going to find a way to win this game. Just a hunch (and not really based on research data).
Pitt vs GB: No Big Ben. Charlie Batch starting on the road. GB is decent in stopping the run. I cannot see Charlie Batch beating Brett Favre on Lambeau Field. Also, Pitt has got a so-so record in games after MNF. I think GB has a good chance of pulling an upset.
Phil vs Wash: Eagles are a Jekyll and Hyde team. Two weeks back they stop Tomlinson cold. And last week they allow 2 100 yard rushers. Eagles will finally commit to running the ball this week and I think that will help out McNabb. I like the Eagles.
Indy vs NE: Indy has played a cupcake schedule so far. The only decent team that they have beaten is Jax and that was a squeaker at home. This is their first test. But the game is outdoors on grass on the road. I still like NE at home (even though they are considerably worse than last week because of all the injuries).
I am picking 8 road teams (SD, ATL, CHIC, NYG, SEA, TENN, CINCI, PHIL) and 6 Home teams (JAX, KC, Tampa, Minn, GB and NE).
If I have it right, you have 10 road teams winning. I can see that happen. It would not surprise me if 12 road teams win this week.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's knee injury is serious enough to keep him out of Sunday's game against Green Bay. His doctors don't want him to play, and the coaches agree. The only one who doesn't agree is Roethlisberger.
-- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
After suffering a sprained ankle, Terrell Owens probably will miss Sunday's game. There are reports he's said he'll be out longer.
-- Philadelphia Inquirer
Speaking on a conference call with New York reporters yesterday, Drew Brees put the Chargers on notice to make a long-term commitment to him or let him go somewhere else. The Jets would be waiting with open arms.
-- Newsday
Eagles president Joe Banner and agent Fletcher Smith, who represents Brian Westbrook, are still having discussions about a long-term contract extension for the running back. The sides are trying to strike a deal before Monday's deadline that allows teams to count signing bonuses against this year's salary cap.
-- Philadelphia Inquirer
Larry Johnson hasn't had one of his patented outbursts of unhappiness this season, but don't for a minute confuse that with contentment. Johnson indicated Wednesday that he's still angling for what he perceives would be a better opportunity somewhere else. Ironically, his words came as it appeared that he would play more in the Chiefs' game Sunday against Oakland at Arrowhead Stadium.
-- Kansas City Star
The Dolphins continue to have talks with agent Leigh Steinberg about a revised contract for running back Ricky Williams, although the talks aren't very close to a resolution.

Former Vikings quarterback Jeff George has been on the phone, indicating a strong interest in rejoining the team as a backup quarterback.
-- Minneapolis Star Tribune
With his team mired at 3-5 at the NFL season's halfway mark, Buffalo Bills coach Mike Mularkey left the door open Wednesday for starting J.P. Losman over Kelly Holcomb at quarterback when his team resumes play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 13.
-- Democrat and Chronicle
Jeff Garcia, hobbling on the left leg he injured nearly nine weeks ago, didn't practice Wednesday. Today's practice will be important because Garcia said Monday he needed to practice by Thursday to start Sunday at Minnesota.
-- Detroit Free Press
The Packers canceled quarterback Brett Favre's weekly gathering with the media after a reporter's cell phone rang during coach Mike Sherman's noon news conference. About 15 minutes into it, an agitated Sherman broke off the question-and-answer session in mid-sentence when the phone began to ring. It was at least the third time that a phone had gone off during one of Sherman's news conferences this season.

In the first test of Romeo Crennel as disciplinarian, the Browns' coach said he would take a fatherly approach to running back Reuben Droughns' DUI arrest. Droughns could be the team's only healthy halfback Sunday against Tennessee.
-- Cleveland Plain-Dealer
Romeo Crennel will stick with Trent Dilfer at quarterback, but he'll try to boost the offense by using Braylon Edwards more. Crennel promoted Edwards this week from third receiver to a rotation with Dennis Northcutt as the No. 2 receiver. On some series, Northcutt will be paired with Antonio Bryant in two-receiver sets and on others it will be Edwards.
-- Cleveland Plain-Dealer
For all the attention Mark Bradley's season-ending knee injury has focused on the Bears' need for a solid No. 2 receiving option, the No. 1 option would like a little more himself. "No," Muhsin Muhammad said, flashing a sly smile. "Me?" That sarcasm is about the extent of the frustration Muhammad has allowed publicly about the numerous times he and quarterback Kyle Orton have failed to connect on open routes.
-- Chicago Tribune
Bears running back Thomas Jones was fitted for a protective flak jacket Wednesday but sat out practice to rest his bruised ribs. The league's No. 6 rusher with 713 yards, Jones is probable for the Bears' game against the New Orleans Saints and no longer is listed with a knee sprain on the injury report. Coach Lovie Smith said Jones likely will return to the field today.
-- Chicago Sun-Times
The Cardinals' quarterback carousel turned again on Wednesday. Kurt Warner was named the starter for Sunday's home game against Seattle, resuming the role he held from training camp until injuring his groin in Week 3. It's the sixth time coach Dennis Green has changed starters in 15 games, dating to Week 10 of last season.
-- Arizona Republic
The Jets floundering at 2-5, Vinny Testaverde said yesterday he's noticed a distinct difference in the demeanor of Herman Edwards. "His mindset and attitude has changed a little bit," Testaverde said. "It's more business-like, workman-like attitude, no-nonsense. I noticed it after the Atlanta game."
-- New York Post
The Atlanta Falcons offensive line has a unique policy that prohibits more than one member at a time from speaking to the media. When the issue came up Wednesday during Coach Jim Mora's news conference, the coach not only defended the policy but said allowing linemen to talk in the past may have adversely affected team chemistry and the franchise's inability to post consecutive winning seasons.
-- Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If quarterback Chris Simms struggles again this week against the Carolina Panthers, chances are slim newly acquired Tim Rattay will make an appearance for the Bucs. Coach Jon Gruden said Wednesday that Luke McCown remains the No. 2 quarterback, meaning Rattay is likely to be the inactive emergency quarterback.
-- St. Petersburg Times
It appears as if Eagles veteran David Akers will return to handle field goals against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Akers has missed the last four games with a torn right hamstring.
-- Philadelphia Inquirer
Coach Norv Turner and some television analysts implied that Shane Lechler was "outkicking'' the Raiders' punt coverage, thus opening up some big returns in Tennessee. Turner said the team needs to assess its punting approach and consider directing the punt more carefully. Lechler has a different point of view. "The people on TV said something about outkicking your coverage. If you're outkicking your coverage, you hit it 70 (yards)," he said. "When I hit that ball 57 (yards) with a 5.2 (seconds) hang time, that's an ideal kick."
-- San Francisco Chronicle
In training camp, Broncos star Champ Bailey was looking forward to having an increased role on offense. Now, the Pro Bowl cornerback simply wants to be healthy. Contributing on defense -- relatively pain-free -- is all Bailey is looking for in the second half of the season.
-- Denver Post
Kris Jenkins wants a poll and now he has one. The Carolina Panthers defensive tackle is out for the season with a knee injury, but he brought up a pet peeve to reporters Wednesday. "You all need to do a poll and ask the fans, do they like the pregame music?'' Jenkins said. Jenkins certainly doesn't like the music that's played over the Bank of America Stadium loudspeakers before home games. Jenkins said he and other players have been asking for more lively warm-up music for several years, but have been told the current tunes are what fans like.

Good god no. The "national spotlight" may seem to think Favre has lost it, but you try playing with 4 skill players who were on the streets less than a week before and see how you do. Yeah, he threw 5 interceptions. A few were tipped (not his fault) and all of them you could argue may of been caught by a decent receiver.
I saw plenty of Rodgers in pre-season. He sucks right now and has a lot to learn. He barely moved the offense when they had Walker, Green, Franks, and Davenport in there.
No matter how bad it gets under Favre, there's no way I wouldn't stick with him.

What if the Packers are 1-9 or 2-8 in a few weeks? Do you still want Favre at QB when there is a good chance he may retire after this year? Or give Rodgers a chance and prepare him for next year (similar to Eli Manning)?
Don't get me wrong. Favre is not the reason for the Packers current record. He is still a pretty good QB. I am sure the Packers will probably be worse off with Rodgers (atleast this season). But if Favre is at the end of his career and this season is going nowhere, why not put Rodgers in there and let him get some experience.

Not having Bettis sucks too, but shit, they got Staley coming in. Nothing to be too worried about there except for two things: Staley hasn't had a carry since last season, and as little as 2-3 weeks ago Cowher claimed that Staley pretty much wouldn't be ready for possibly the rest of this season because of the injury he had.

Not again. Dennis Green needs to decide who's going to be his starting QB: McCown or Warner.

That's pretty much my thinking on the situation. There's no chance Warner will be a long term solution at QB, while there's still a very slim chance that McCown will be one. McCown is the only one to win games for Green in Arizona and it's worth just getting behind him for the rest of the way so you have as much information to work with at the end of the season, it's not like they're going anywhere this year anyway.
Honestly though it will make no difference who the Cardinals play at QB as long as their offensive line remains this horrible.

Owens got into a fight on Wednesday with former Eagles defensive end and current team ambassador Hugh Douglas, the Trenton Times reported and ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirmed Sunday.
A team source told Mortensen that Douglas, whose post with the Eagles he re-titled "bad-ass-ador," entered the team's training room Wednesday and announced "I know there are people in here faking injuries." The comment apparently led to the scrum between Owens and Douglas.
One source told the Times the fight "was like WWE Smackdown." Another source told the paper both Douglas and Owens threw at least two punches before Owens challenged quarterback Donovan McNabb and then everyone else in the room, saying "You want some? Anyone else want some?"
The scrap is just another incident in a week of unrest that led to Owens being suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team on Saturday.
Early in the week, Owens apprised Philadelphia officials that he had sprained his ankle in last Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, and might require some time off. One day later, he was back at practice and seemingly prepared to play against the Redskins.
On Thursday, Owens blasted McNabb and the organization in an ESPN.com interview which spurred a Friday meeting with Eagles coach Andy Reid.
On Friday, Mortensen reports, Reid gave Owens three stipulations: Apologize to the organization, the team and to McNabb.
McNabb told ESPN's Suzy Kolber he called a team meeting Friday, which Owens attended, to discuss the team's unrest and pronounced to all, looking at T.O. directly, "You're either with me or against me."
Owens' apologies in private to the club and in public on Friday apparently did not meet Reid's standards and T.O. was suspended on Saturday.
According to the paper, Owens and Douglas have been at odds since training camp where they almost got into an altercation in an elevator at Lehigh University. Douglas was among the few players to publicly say Owens should honor his current contract when T.O. demanded a new one this past offseason.
The Eagles declined to comment about the bout.
In seven games this season, Owens has 47 catches for 763 yards and six touchdowns.
This is the second time Owens has been suspended during his controversial 10-year career. While a 49er in 2000, he was suspended one game by San Francisco coach Steve Mariucci following his touchdown celebrations on the Cowboys' star logo at the center of Texas Stadium.

I'd be stunned if TO played for the Eagles this year. It's more likely they're just going to do to him what the Bucs did to Keyshawn a couple of years back -- just send him home with his paychecks, keep him inactive every week.
Meanwhile, the Tampa-Carolina game is now officially a blowout. 34-7 Carolina after a huge TD pass to (and another great TD dance by) Steve Smith.

Absolutely terrible pass interference call against the Panthers on 4th and goal gives the Bucs a first down, and an Alstott one yard run makes it 34-14. Tampa's not coming back here, but still a shitty call.

NFL.com's is easily the best IMO and the easiest to follow. It's powered by CBS Sportsline and you can tell. The same format as their superior MLB gamecast.

RotoWorld.com and FantasyFootball.com have learned that Priest Holmes will not play in week 10 and is unlikely to play again this season.
Sources close to the situation report that his career is in jeopardy. Larry Johnson will start in week 10 when the Chiefs visit the Buffalo Bills, and Johnson's value should be very high for the rest of season if Holmes shuts it down. If you can pull off a trade to get rid of Holmes or acquire L.J. before this news hits the masses, do it.

I honestly don't think we can say that yet. It may sound silly, but the truth is they still haven't beaten anyone of consequence yet. Beating the Pats is a big deal, and I don't want to downplay that, because even with all the injuries, they're tough, especially at home; but I think we have to see them play a team like Pittsburgh (with Big Ben) or San Diego or maybe Jacksonville or Seattle before we know how good they really are (sorry, I'm not buying that Cincy can beat a good team yet).

Hey, I'm a Dolphins fan, even if they got relegated to my 3rd favorite team in the 10 years I didn't live down here, and I'd love to see the Colts go undefeated. Mostly because there be hilarious freak-outs on local sports radio. Plus I'm convinced the idiotic celebrations the members of the 72 Dolphins have every time the last undefeated team loses is a curse on the Dolphins, and the Dolphins won't win a thing until someone else goes undefeated.
