The Saint Megaset at $59.97 (70% off) is tempting as a blind buy (I read the DVDTalk review for the first couple discs, but that is all I know).
The History of Britian ($29.97, 70% off) also looks appealing.
Hmm... glad I got that 4-month free trial to Amazon Prime. It has definately made me more willing to shop at amazon again.

How are you guys finding titles? It doesn't seem to cover all British titles, as the Blackadder set isn't on sale. Thanks for the heads-up on the AB Hammer titles - I finally got the last 3 sets I needed!

Does anyone know if tehse are going to be re-released or is just the MSRP going to be much lower. I have noticed these on sale for a few times in the past month and each time they are getting a little less.
Also does anyone know if the original 71 episodes are available on DVD? What about the Avengers episods that dont have Emma Peel (Rigg) in them? There is a lot of "best of" collectons and various early volumnes. I have been excited to watch this series for a long time and would perfer to watch them ALL if possible
Great find OP thanks!

Y'know, I wonder if they're discontinuing some of these sets in their current form in order to reissue them in thinner cases for the individual DVDs. I couldn't figure out why the Python set had been reissued until I saw it in the store today; the discs are in thin boxes--the whole package is not nearly as wide as the one on my shelf.

If I recall correctly (and it's been quite a while since this whole discussion took place, so I might not be completely correct), the Bean set isn't cut. It is missing footage added to the shows when they were broadcast outside of Britain. The shows themselves are the same as they were when they were originally broadcast.

Many of the items I purchased had the ship in 6-9 days time frame, but almost all of them have shipped already. Amazon tends to give conservative estimates to cover themselves. If this sale is hugely popular, it may take even longer to receive items.

It is true, it is missing scenes. I forget exactly each ones, but when it came out, I ultimately decided to get the Australian set instead because the episodes were indeed uncut.
It depends on what you mean by "missing scenes." The programs on the set have the exact same content as when the show originally aired in Britian. They later added some scenes that were originally cut for overseas distribution. These added scenes aren't included.
So basically this release is unedited, and the Australian one is edited. That doesn't mean that one is better than the other, just that this R1 set is original.

I don't think all of the Hammer Double Features (if that's what you're referring to) are out of print.
I think that the only ones that are out of print are:
DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS/SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA
THE ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN/SHATTER
QUATERMASS AND THE PIT/QUATERMASS 2
The other seven are still generally available. DVDEmpire still has them in stock, and Amazon had them in stock before the sale began. (The others occasionally turn up in Borders Stores. I just bought "The Abominable Snowman/Shatter" and "Dracula POD/Satanic Rites" there a couple of weeks ago.)

Sale is still going at Amazon. Their price is 99.98, which is 50% off. The sale specifies "up to 70%" which means 70% and lower, so 50% still counts. Any alteration in DDD's price was probably meant to match Amazon's.

Actually, though the sale may be officially over, it seems some of the titles are indeed still on sale, in fact better than they have been the last few days (closer to their original sale prices).
In particular, The Saint megaset is now $72.97, the Avengers megaset is $87.97, the Prisoner megaset is $67.97, and Simon Schama's History of Britain is $36.97. But other titles have indeed gone up.
I guess it's now an A&E sale.

(sorry for the OT post...I really did TRY to resist...)
So, if the British DVD sale is not dead...
Is it getting better.....going to take a walk?
(Somehow, I missed this, so didn't get a chance to see: Did they ever have a better price discount on the Monty Python Series Megaset than the 45% off it currently shows....?)

The Prisoner set was $57.97 during the British sale. And I recall the Avengers and Saint sets were much cheaper as well. Can those who ordered these sets verify?

Some prices have come down today but not as low as last week. I got the Agatha Christie Megaset for $43, it was $83 the other day and is now $51. What are they up to?

I've noticed Amazon tends to send prices all over the map during these sales. They could still be in for a drop. Only exception is when the actually commit to a price--like the Fox 2 for $22 sale. The only safe way to lock in a price would be to offer to pay by check(not the new echeck method) or money order.

The Avengers - Emma Peel Collection was $79 something now @ $99. Several sites (DDD and Costco) also moved their prices up on this. Perhaps A&E did a temporary price reduction and then revised up ... don't know.
Not to worry, there's always another sale.

Finally received my last order, it had been backordered since the begining of the sale but Amazon came through with Wish Me Luck Series One and Enemy at the Door Series One and Two for $25.50 total. Thanks OP.
