It is a pretty cool song that has a guy singing "bum, bum, bum". Anyone know?

Bcolon must not have watched MTV or listened to the Radio in the last YEAR or so. Jesus Walks has been EVERYWHERE! Ribbing aside, I like the way they are marketing this flick, the ads make it look pretty intense. I have faith in Sam Mendes and LOVE any war related movies, so I can't wait to see this one.

do they still play videos on MTV?
Honestly I watch MTV but i rarely see videos, but I guess they are on in the afternoon, Im never home then. I have siris radio, I sometimes listen to the pop stations but i had never heard this song before. Maye he doesn't get play there. I rarely listen to the rap stations though, because they are in the 50's.
I too have faith in Mendes...

I don't normally watch MTV (because of the lack of music) but I have XM and have never heard this song. When was it popular? I never heard it on the Top 20 station at all on XM nor any of the other popular stations. I don't listen to the rap stations so it must have not crossed over much. Did it even hit the Top 40?

I do predict that it will probably be a big hit due to the preview using it & if it is featured in the movie. Pretty catchy.

That's like saying the Carlos Santana/Rob Thomas song "Smooth" will be a big hit if used in a trailer. It was already huge, I dont' see it coming back now.

It does work well in the trailer though.

The version in the trailer seems different since it doesn't have the dude rapping in the foreground. Is that available somewhere?

'scuze me for not being current on my hip-hop records. I am still stuck in the 70's & 80's I guess.

And come on, it's not that far-fetched that it could chart again. All the old, rockin' white boys might hear it for the first time like me and buy it. Ferris Bueller made "Twist and Shout" by The Beatles chart again. Oops, there I go showing my age again.

Anyone know it's peak on the Top 40? I tried to find the info but never could. Guess I changed the channel everytime it came on. Not a big fan of hip-hop & rap.

not likely. where i work as a trailer editor, we get CD's in that include an instrumental version of just about any contemporary song we ask for. makes for cleaner music edits.

Hmm...from the Wikipedia article: 'West built "Jesus Walks" around a sample from the Arc Choir's "Walk with Me".' I bet that's the BUM BUM BUM stuff.

Edit: I was correct. Instead of rapping you get "Jesus, Walk with me!"

I hate to ask the obvious question, but why is a Kanye West song being used in a film that is have occurred in 1990 and/or 1991?

Yeah, it was on last night, you didn't catch it? It was hilarious! First Butters was like "What is the name of the song featured in the "Jarhead" comercials? It is a pretty cool song that has a guy singing "bum, bum, bum". Anyone know?" and then Kyle was like "Kanye West's 'Jesus Walks' of the great album The College Dropout" and Butters was like "That's it. Thanks!" and then Cartman butts in and is all like "George Bush doesn't care about Jarhead commercials."

Comedy Gold! Where do they come up with this stuff?

Why does it matter?
