SNL recurring skits that should be killed
There are some SNL skits that are just not funny, yet the writers seem to bring them back fairly often.
One that comes to mind off the top of my head is the "Pat and Patty's Backpack Shack" skit. Just unbearable IMO.
Any others that come to mind?

I haven't seen a recurring skit on SNL that I thought was worth of being just that, in many, many years. I mean, Debbie Downer, Prince, Gays in Space, etc...?
I hate SNL so much at this point that I wouldn't care if it was canceled, and I never thought I'd ever say that a few years ago.

Overall I think the show is bad but one thing that bugs me is the guest star opening. Give the guest the time alone. Let them say or do what they want to do within reason. Either they will be funny or crash and burn.

Saturday Night Live itself is a recurring skit (once every Saturday), and I vote that it should be killed.
Seriously, this show has sucked since Tina Fey became head writer.

I'm not going to go as far as Tommy and say that it proves that women are not funny (last I heard, the majority of the writing staff on SNL were Tina's female friends), but I will say that it proves Tina and her friends are not funny.

Ellen DeGeneres for starters. Some damned funny stand-up material when she's not over-beating the lesbian issues.
Although I don't like her, I think Roseanne Barr can be on the list.

I'm with Tommy. In fact, I have uttered the phrase "women are NOT funny" several hundred times in my life.
Make a list of 100 funny men (should take about two minutes) and a list of 10 funny women (if you can think of that many). I'll contend that the guy at the bottom of the men's list is significantly funnier than the top of the women's list. (And, yes, there is always the exception that proves the rule)

I vote for Weekend Update. With the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, there's simply nothing they can do with it that's original or funny anymore.
But overall, I think the whole show should be shit-canned.

Lily Tomlin
Gilda Radner
Margaret Cho
Tracy Ullman
Phyllis Diller
Carol Burnett
Brett Butler
Roseanne Barr
Joan Rivers
Gracie Allen
Goldie Hawn
You lose.
All you can logically assert is that there are more men in comedy than women. Looking at the way an audience acts, I can't blame women for not wanting to choose that career path. The ones that make it through, though, can be damned good.
Of course, it's all opinion. You might not find these women funny... but their fan base and bank accounts say that there are a lot of people out there that don't agree with you.
