What are those dang white dots that play during a movie!?!

Hey everybody,
Sorry if this has been asked before but I have a question. Today I watched Kingdom of Heaven and Land of the Dead and during each one, every so often a pattern of white dots flashes on the screen. I re-wound it to see if it was a problem with the DVD's but it didnt appear again, and I recall this happening before on some of my other DVD's in the past. I was thinking that it was some sort of security device or watermark...Does anyone have any idea what this is or am I just special???
Thanks in advance

Anyone who rewinds their DVDs probably has bigger problems than just seeing white dots.

I'm guessing it's electrical interference from something. Since you've gone back and not seen it appear where it did before, it's probably not something on the transfer itself.

When you close your eyes, do you still see the white dots?

Are you watching the DVD on a laptop? If so, I've seen situations on my old (cheap) one where there would be an couple of white dots in black areas that weren't reproducable. I chalked it up to the video card having trouble keeping up.

Do they bounce on the subtitles while the actors are singing? You are supposed to sing along.

Do you have an urge to build a large scale model of a butte in Wyoming in your home?

Strange white dots? You might want to see a doctor about that.
