For those of you like me who aren't familiar with Val Lewton, here's a chance to check out his movies.
The films in TCM's salute to Val Lewton are Cat People (1942), The Seventh Victim (1943), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), The Leopard Man (1943), The Ghost Ship (1943), The Curse of the Cat People (1944), The Body Snatcher (1945) and Bedlam (1946).

Just got done with Cat People. Kind of let down by it, but that was probably because my expectations were too high.
I'm looking forward to Body Snatcher.

I came in the middle of The Seventh Victim. I've never seen Hugh Beaumont play any role except for Ward Cleaver.
I remember watching TCM a lot last October. I wasn't working then and would stay up really late watching classic horror movies. It was great. Now I've got a job and don't have that luxury. :(
Is it just me or did TCM cut back on the horror films this year? I know next week is chock full of Hitchcock, but I consider his films to be largely thrillers and not horror per se.

Body Snatcher kicked much ass! I never thought Karloff could flesh himself out like this to turn into a real monster!
Probably the only drawback I had was the casting of Fettes. That role demanded a lot more grit than Russell Wade was able to provide. And Karloff/Lugosi confrontations are ALWAYS fun to watch!
Call me dark-hearted, but I let out a cheer when Grey shut that singer up

I hate I missed this or I would have DVR'ed all of them (they would also help toward my October Horror movie tally:))
Are they going to rerun them? I always forget about TCM. I only watch movie uncut with no commercials & OAR which mean I stick to HBOHD, Showtime HD & Cinemax HD. I always forget that TCM does all three (pretty awesome even if they are old movies :up: )
I gotta remember to check their scehdule because I know they always do a good job of showing old horror films around Halloween.

TCM has a habit of showing some great, rare stuff and then not reairing it right or away or for months at a time. If I didn't have so many DVDs to watch, I would be buying blank tapes by the bulk, as TCM has been reeling out some classics this month. I may have to do so for the Hitchcock festival next week.

wait you don't have a DV-R (?) I've been recording quite a few films from TCM and just transferring them to DVD. You get the occasional TCM logo at the lower right hand corner, but hey it's in my library now :) (notably the Bunuel films that TCM aired a couple months back)

I don't even have cable, let alone a DVR. That being said, I had a buddy use his DVR to copy about 10 of the Orson Welles Films earlier this year. I was able to get DVD copies of Amberson and the Immortal Story that way. TCM is really the only channel that makes me want to get cable.

Nope, although it's something I should invest it. I have no doubts that most of the movies they show will eventually be on DVD, but it'd be nice to have them on right now. After all, who in the world can actually wait for them to be officially released on DVD?
