Samsung Player won't read disc!! Help!!

Hey all,

I just got a new TV this past week and I hooked up my Samsung DVD-P231.

At first, I didn't have the switch for the component connection turned on so everything was red. After I got the component hooked up, it won't read the disc at all.

I get the "Cannot Read Disc" message. It does this for any connection I use, not just component.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can rectify this? It worked fine an hour earlier. Now nothing!

I was thinking about resetting the DVD player but can't find any info on how to do it?

Help Please!

TIA

Is there an autoplay feature? My Zenith has one, and it wouldn't read certain DVDs with autoplay enabled.

It may be an issue with copy protection, have you tried searching AVSForum?

Thanks fr the reply CPT.

I've tried about 6 DVD's and still no luck. I keep getting "the disc cannot be played".

Any ideas?

Try starting over. Try the switch in the other position. If you retrace all your steps and it still will not read a disc, take it back, it is defective.

Have the PAL setting been accidently activated to play non-R1 DVDs? If so, the player is unable to read the disc, and the Cannot Read Disc message will appear on the screen to inform the user. If this is the problem, then you must reset the player to the NTSC setting to play R1 DVDs.
