Apologies up front if this has been discussed before. I did a search but didnt find anything.

Im thinking about picking up one of these adapters since at the moment I only have one TV. It usually isnt a problem except Im super deep into KOTOR 2 right now. My family is getting fed up with not watching tv, especially the kids. Ive seen a few of these on ebay, and the prices vary quite a bit. I dont want to get a worthless piece of crap, but I dont want to spend a arm and a leg. Anyone use one and have and recommendations? Experiences with one? Also, are they hard to set up. I have a monitor Im not using and was going to use that for it.

You want one that has a transcoder in it. I had one that didn't and the picture quality was pretty bad.

I own, two of the Best adaptors.

For xbox there is the x2vga (www.x2vga.com) It's a great adaptor plugs directly into the xbox and has a pass thru for your computer.

I also own the one from vDigi. http://www.vdigi.com/
That one takes in a component cable and converts to HD. It works with any component hook up. ie xbox, gamecube, ps2 as long as the games support High Definition. I'm sure this one will work with the xbox360 also.

Note: the Dashboard of the xbox is in 480i so it's not HighDef. But if you use xbox live they've updated your dashboard to be able to be set to 480p. Just put the controller in and pull both triggers and push in both sticks at the same time to set it to 480p.

Your boot screen will always be scrambled cause it's not HighDef. And DVD's play in 480i on the xbox, so you can't watch them either. And also remember the Game has to support HD to play it on the monitor. Oh yeah one other thing you have to go into your dashboard settings and enable 480p 720p and 1080i.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

BeanDip0001 uses the Logitech one ( I think) PM him and ask about it. It works really well from what I've seen.

Thanks for the tips guys. I was reading a little about the x2vga and think I will go with that. Now I just need a couple of hours of overtime to pay for it. I would like to be able to use it for future systems, so it kinda looks like the x2vga will only work for xbox which is a bummer. I like the vdigi, but dont think I could afford one. I saw a vdigi unit on ebay but it was already $100+, too rich for my blood.

OK,I just looked at the vdigi site. They have it listed at $60, but its going for $130+ on ebay. Are they really that bad shipping that someone would pay more than twice as much for one?

fyi vDigi one is cheaper then the x2vga one. Buy it directly from them overseas. (Link above) Its $60 plus shipping($13 It's from Hong Kong) I think. The only thing I don't like about it is that it uses a an external power source. ie it comes with an AC adaptor that has to be plugged in.

Yes they are both pricey! But once you've played High Definition on a CRT it's hard to go back to regular tv. I even have a 8 by 5 foot projection(bought in 2000 so not HD) system, but I prefer the HD resolution of the CRT screen.

One other option would be those 5" Zenith screens that are down to $20 at BB. I realize that the suck, but it would be a cheap option to play some xbox when the TV is busy.

wouldt really work. If I wanted to do that, Ive got a 9 inch screen in my wifes care I could hook it up to. Thought about doing that for road trips, though.

Why don't you sell your monitor on craigslist and buy a small TV there? You'd probably come out ahead!
