I was just wondering what the correct OAR is for the season one set of One Tree Hill? The DVD is fullscreen, but I know the show is now show in widescreen. Was this season shot and aired in fullscreen and then did they make their jump to widescreen for season 2? Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was simulcast in HDTV. THE O.C. is another show that was aired that way in Season 1 but has a fullscrean DVD release. :P

For whatever reason Fool-Screen was used for the DVDs. The WB did the same thing for the first seasons of the O.C. and Everwood.
For Everwood, the pilot epside is Widescreen on the DVD and the rest of the episodes are Fool-Screen. It was explained that the producers of the show wanted it to be that way for the DVD. Even though it was simulcast in HD. For the OC TPTB said it was suppose to be Fool-Screen for the DVDs.
I personally don't understand why they would use the 1:33:1 transers when they have the 1:78:1 versions available. Although for seasons 1 of OC/OTH I just scretched the image on my LCD tv make it feel like widescreen.
Luckily the S2 sets are widescreen. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. Kinda sucks though. I just don't understand why WB did that.

Because the people that created the show wanted it that way.
