How I Met Your Mother - "Sweet Taste of Liberty" - 10/3

Funniest episode of this show so far. NPH is great. Some people will probably hate them, but I love all of his catchphrases. LEGENDARY! and phone five! are the best .

I lost it when NPH character sent the pictures over the cell phone with the "eye contact" motions.

Good episode.

NPH is funny, but by the end of the episode, they had totally worn out "Legendary" and the eye contact motions, so they were annoying me.

And Ted annoys me when he's being a whiny bitch, so yeah, he's annoying me for most of the show.

If the show continues to be so annoying, it may stop getting watched.

The phone five was funny, but I was expecting The Todd to be saying it.

If this show were all NPH and AH being funny, I wouldn't have dropped it after seeing last night's episode. Yes, it was an improvement over the others. It wasn't enough of an improvement, and I believe that was as funny as the show can possibly be without killing off characters.

Whoever decided to keep showing the kids at the end of each episode needs to be hog-tied and forced to watch good comedies.

The fact that Ted eventually becomes Bob Freaking Saget annoys me a bit. Otherwise, I still like the show. Maybe NPH will become the breakout character and take over the show, like The Fonz or Urkel.

I thought this one was the least funny episode so far.

I didn't get the "phone five" thing.

I thought this was easily the least funny of the episodes. It just got tedious to watch near the end. Plus there was not enough interaction with the guys and the girls together.

Some other folks I talk TV with feel the same way you guys do about the episode. I think my opinion just makes it clear that I don't value the things you folks find funny about the show. It grades out so well with me almost exclusively for the NPH stuff, and it just isn't enough for me.

I should clarify my position on the show now: it is kicked off of the DVR, but I may catch it live now and then. It is in a good time slot for me.

I thought this ep was pretty funny. Not crazy about Ted's character yet and NPH is still the funniest thing on this show. Loved the video footage from the airport, especially him crawling out of the duffle bag.

I'm still watchin.

are they ever going to show him meeting his wife or are they going to keep it secret for whole series?

Yeah, that was great. I forgot about the pictures he sent to Marshall .

I think that's their prime gag. They seem annoyingly attached to it, Bob Saget, and those terrible actors who play the kids.

In all honesty, if this makes it to a second season, I can see them dropping the whole "Bob Saget tells the story" for more of an actual sitcom premise.

But yeah... I'm still watching. NPH is funny, as always, and there were some truly funny moments.

(Ted sucks. Enough said.)

I wasn't as funny as the previous shows. I really like NPH character, he has the best jokes, but it was too much in this show. He ended annoying me...

Also, some very bad jokes from the other characters, but still I'll continue watching this show.

Still liking the show. Didn't like the girls' half as much as the fellas though. And the phone pix of the eye contact bit were the greatest.

I too loved the phone pix of the eye contact. Hilarious. This show is so much better than "Two and a Half Men"...

I mean I watch Two and a Hald Men but it has to be one of the most mind numbingly stupid and pointless sitcoms out there. At least Raymond had something meaningful.

They need to quit while their ahead with the jokes, instead of using them over and over and over and over again. The finger/eye gesture and "legendary" was kinda funny the first few times...but the 10th-15th time, it really wears thin. 3 and out for me, show just doesn't do much for me...which sucks cause the brunette is smokin.

I like this show, but the whole "How I Met Your Mother" gimmick isn't working for me. It's like it existed simply to pull off the twist ending in the pilot (and to have a hook to sell the show on). It just seems bizarre that this dad is telling his kids this long drawn out story. And worst of all, they haven't done anything to make the wraparound segments even remotely interesting. Bob Saget says something, the kids groan... is that gonna be it every week?

But I do like the bulk of the show.

I really liked the episode, and NPH. I loved how he always knew his cabdriver's name.

I'm starting to see why there's that one thread about Neil Patrick Harris being so overrated. The original poster must've been referring to these threads. I htink his character is more obnoxious than funny. The only one I thought was funny in this episode was Jason Segel. This show is probably just good enough to get Fox to cancel their entire Monday night lineup.
