Some Good WhoDunIt/Mystery Films?

I have netflix and am trying to see more of these kinds of movies. They can be from any decade. Ones that I like have been "Death on the Nile" "House on Haunted Hill" 1958, "Rear Window" and even "Clue."

They can have elements of comedy in them like Clue, or just all out mystery/whodunit like Death on the Nile. Anyone have any good suggestions. I especially enjoy seeing something happen, like a murder, and it's up to the viewer to find out who among the many suspects on screen in the killer. But that doesn't have to be the format.

Thanks guys.

I'd check out Murder by Death with Peter Falk. I don't know if the DVD is still available though.

Definately a must see.

Some others are:
- D.O.A. (the original over the remake) has a unique slant on the classic muder mystery
- Interview
- No Way Out
- Perfect Murder
- Name of the Rose
- Murder By Decree (a Jack the Ripper story)
- Crimson Rivers (French but should be readily found)
- Vidoq (also French but may not be readily found)
- If you like TV series check out Poirot, Cadfael, Sherlock (w/ Jeremy Brett) and esp. Foyle's War.

Not quite "whodunit" but good mystery style films are:
- Deathtrap
- Sleuth

First movie I thought of...even though it's a parody of "Whodunnit" flicks.

Loved this movie. Been trying to think of the title for awhile now. It's available on Amazon.

Which one has
Spoiler:
all the dead bodies floating in the pool?

Is it Murder by Death or The Cheap Detective, or something else?

Murder at 1600 (1997) with Wesley Snipes and Diane Lane is one of my favorite in this genre.

Sleuth -- a clever mystery, with a cast of only three people!

In my post, when I recommended The Cheap Detective, I was thinking of Murder By Death --they both star Peter Falk.

DeathTrap. Michael Caine. Christopher Reeve. Amazing film.

NOTE: When you go to IMDB to learn more, do not, repeat, do not read the "Trivia" section. It is riddled with unlabeled spoilers. Just watch it. Promise?

first one that came to mind was murder on the orient express which was stated above. And i suppose you can add A shot into the dark into the list, though thats really a comedy.

I'd like to recomend that instead of watching identity go hit your balls with a hammer.

not really a mystery but;

north by northwest is also a sort of mystery.
and not really who dun its or mysterys but any of kurosawa's crime films are worth checking out. I.E. stray dog, bad sleep well, high and low, etc.

EVIL UNDER THE SUN is probably my favorite of the Hercule Poirot/Agatha Christie films... it has just enough snarky comedy and crackling mystery to keep you engaged throughout. It's really just a wonderful little movie, less heavy and more whimsical than DEATH ON THE NILE, which I loved but not quite as much.

Check out TEN LITTLE INDIANS (or AND THEN THERE WERE NONE) for a freaky b&w whodunnit that kept me up for nights when I was a kid.

Incidentally, why is it that the victim in Agatha Christie stories always ends up surrounding themselves with people who want to kill them... usually at some remote or distant location at that.
