Question: Here is the situation, I have collected games for years upon years and would say I have around 400 plus games now. A lot of them are this generation's stuff, things I never play (some never opened). I have twins on the way now, so I can't afford new games...I have seen people trade in games and get other games, such as funco and gamespot stores. Here is my question - how does that work? What's the average for a used game? For example, how many would I need to trade to get a RE4 or Ulimate Spider-Man? I know I would have to "pay a difference", but what is the average usually?
Thanks,

Try Gamerush. For 2 games, get any new game for $30. And you get the credit for those two games to use towards that $30. Of course you can turn in more games at the same time to not use any cash at all
Best deal in town.

If you are looking for credit and new games, GAMERUSH is your BEST option:

I've got MANY new games and pre-orders and a XBOX360 basically paid off with credit.

You could also go the Ebay route and come out ahead. It's can be a slight pain in the ass trying to sell 400 games, but if you've got the time. If not I would check your games against the listings on ebay to see if you have any hidden gems like Intelligent Cube or Rez that still sell for a pretty penny, and then just trade in the rest like the others said.
Also check out the DVDTalk trade forum if you wanted to trade. With the amount of stuff you have you could probably get everything you want by just paying postage.

EB and Gamestop are usually terrible for trade-in prices, but if they're doing a promotion they're not too bad. At EB right now, if you trade in five games or more, you get an additional $5 per game. I traded in six titles on which I'd spent a grand total of $8 and got $46 in credit, which was enough for me to get Advance Wars: DS and have $10 left over. They do have an exclusion list, though, so older sports titles and most cheap games will not work.

No game rush near me, so I guess EBgames will be my only choice.
As for hidden gems, I have tons of 'em, like "Rez", not to mention a bunch of unopened Saturn import titles....can't part with those tho'!

This gamerush place sounds nice..Hate livin' in the sticks.

Well, you can always EBAY rare games if you are desperate.....or sell them here, someone would want them.
If you do trade in, wait for a promo. I think EBGames has the Edge card...I kow you get 10% off used, not sure if you get any extra when trading in though

You may want to try FYE if you have any around you. Their trade in values are often much higher than Gamestop and EB.

If you are forced into going to EB or Gamestop plan to be patient. Their trade-in specials can make things a bit better for you but these specials are unpredictable.
I would call them and ask about deals now and then just to see. I held off on trading my collection until they had some "Trade in 4 games get 40% extra" deal. The deals probably still were not are good as GAMERUSH but I too don't have one of those near me and just had to deal with that fact.
