I think this is finally going to be the week that "Venom" reaches the #1 spot.

I'm gonna see Serenity 2 - 3 times this weekend. But Into the Blue will nab the top spot.

Even though I have no plans to see it, I think Serenity will take this weekend.

I think Into The Blue will edge out Serenity. It's a real tough call. The fans could make a huge difference.

I will be seeing Serenity and won't be seeing Into The Blue.....but I believe ITB will take the weekend. I don't think either will crack 18 though.

I'm going to go with Flightplan doing a good second weekend simply because Blue and Serenity will be fighting each other for attention. Besides that, those two theatres will reek of loniliness and face grease.

Never saw the shows so I voted Serenity only based on the strong crowd reaction at Comic-Con (I sat through it only so I wouldn't lose my seat). Seemed like a strong fanbase so I think it should open strong. The trailers for it look fairly nice too.

a lot of serenity fans on this board. We are not talking an x-files type huge following either. personally i thought the showserenity/firefly, sucked. Jessica Alba is hot right now and i think she will carry Into the Blue into the number one spot

Man, wouldn't that be something. You'd hear a collective exploding of heads from the west coast.

I want Serenity to be #1, but I think Into the Blue will be #1. It will draw the majority of the 16-25 year olds (the ones who usually go to the movies most often and therefore often times dictate the #1 money maker)

I'm hoping for a Serenity win, though Blue could pull a trump card. Into the Blue does have the larger screen count advantage, with 2800 screens versus Serenity's rather small 2100 screens. I don't think either film is going to top 20 million though.

Damn, History of Violence tied with Into the Blue and it was on half as many screens.

It should be pointed out that Serenity had a better per screen average than Flightplan and just 81 dollars behind A History Of Violence. 520,000 dollars is all that separates Serenity and Flightplan (not bad considering the Jodie Foster flick is in 1,200+ more theaters), a gap which could be narrowed today.

That's a pretty good opening for Serenity considering it was playing on only one screen in most theaters here in Houston. I just hope it doesn't do what most sci-fi flicks do at the box office: impressive Friday numbers followed by massive dropoffs.

Well, those friday numbers are pretty disappointing....WTF? Flightplan...really? I didn't think it was all that good... maybe Serenity will have a better Saturday...I know I didn't get out yesterday to see it, but will be going tonight and tomorrow.
