I'm just including those part of the regular series. And only 10 choices allowed so i'm not adding the online FFXI
I've always liked VI the best, the last one on Super Nintendo i felt was the high point of the series. The plot, characters, story was all fresh and new. There wasn't one main character. It had perfect gameplay and the graphics and music were exquisite.

VI is excellent and I will put that one as my favorite, but I have to say honeslty VII is my second favorite of the series. I think its a lot better than most of the SNES ones.

IV (or II here in the US) has been my favorite so far. I've played them all except II which was not released in the US until the Dawn of Souls GBA cart. VII and IX would be next in line. VI was a great game, but I guess I didn't find it as exciting as everyone else...

Just a reminder that if you played Final Fantasy II on the SNES that would be considered Final Fantasy IV in the true numbering and Final Fantasy III on the SNES would be considered Final Fantasy VI.

FFIV was very enjoyable too, great story, except for the constant random encounters was a little over the top.
FFIII is considered the best by many of the NES FF's (and heck all FF's i heard too) and incidently the only one left unreleased officially in the US.

Final Fantasy III was indeed one of the best looking NES games out there but I still give an edge to Dragon Warrior IV for best NES RPG. FFIII does come close and if I had gotten to play that when it during my childhood it might have been a fierce battle (though I've always be a devout Dragon Warrior guy so I'm sure IV would have still won out in the end).

I've played every Final Fantasy except XI Online. Man I can't believe it. But anyway of those VI is my favorite. Perfect blend of story, action, characters, humor, and the music was incredible. My second favorite is VII, i can't really pinpoint why though, I just had a good time with it. It's actually pretty difficult for me to rank them, I like them all for different reasons, but my favorites are VI, VII, X, IV, I. FFVI is coming out on Nintendo DS right?
FFXII so far isn't looking too great to me personally, but maybe that will change when I get my hands on the demo.

FF3(6) was actually the first RPG I ever played, and it is probably my favorite of the series. I want to go back and play the originals, but so far I have only played from 6 on. My vote goes to 6.

Out of the ones I've played significantly - FF7, FF8, FFX, FF9 in that order.
FFT is great but held back by a terrible translation. FFTA sucked. FF6 looks promising but haven't got round to playing it yet.

FFMQ isnt included because it isnt considered a Main stream FF game such as FFT
FFMQ came out near the time when Japanese thought US players couldnt handle the complex puzzles that most RPGs had. I remember playing FFV and getting lost a few times in it.
Ive liked VI the best

FFVI used to be my fave...until FFX. Yes, FFX, even when the PS-era FF's were my least favourite ever - including the hugely overrated FFVII.
So my order is: FFX, FFVI, FFIV, FFIII. Didn't care much for FFI, FFII, FFV, FFVII, FFVII. Never played IX.
