Which special feature of a DVD are you a sucker for?

I dunno, but everytime i hear about actual audition footage from the actors, especially in old movies i am a sucker for.

what's your most coveted special feature?

For me, it's the feature presentation - the movie itself.

For extras, it depends, but usually it's the "Making Of".

"making of's" are nice, but I like audio commentaries myself.

I'm with Josh about a well-made documentary... not the fluffy "HBO Looks at..."

Retrospective documentaries are great for films older than 10 years. I also like deleted scenes and trailers.

If it's a classic film, I'm always a sucker for historical stuff (early versions of the film, vintage documentaries and interviews, original trailers). Newer films? Usually an audio commentary is good enough.

History Channel or Biography specials on War movies etc. Aviator or Black Hawk Down for example - comparable documentaries are also good.

I'm a sucker for any special feature that really gets into the real meat of filmmaking. Have it be a really good commentary, a great documentary, or whatever. If it showcases, and I mean really showcases, the filmmaking process, then I'm there!

I also love DVDs based on true events, and how they move a little bit away from the film, and talk about what really happened. The Black Hawk Down 3-disc set is a good example of what I think of as a "perfect" DVD package.

Weird Commentaries... What I mean by "weird" our commentaires that have unexpected people in them, or turn out just to be a bizare experience.

If it's a classic film, any type of footage from that time period, such as receiving an award(Oscar, etc..)..interview while the film was being made or just after, footage of the movie premier. Gives the whole package a nice feel..always perk up when I see that stuff.

I love when DVD's have "interactive menus"!!!

I really like documentaries based on true events, just like a poster above me said. I am a sucker for history.

I also like when the real people are featured in the documentaries or special features...like the Band of Brothers set.

Any disc that includes the Sundance Channel's Anatomy of a Scene is worthy of a buy for me. I love the way it shows really how all the different aspects of filmaking come together.

Does DTS audio count as a special feature? I just love that little red and white DTS logo.

It depends. On older films, commmentaries as for new films I rather much not listen to them, since movies are extensively covered online and in magazines.

A good nice, informative documentary, not a 5 min commerical with "I love working with him" stuff.

Commentaries, definitely. If I'm on the fence about a purchase, the commentary (or lack of such) will make the difference for me.

I also love Sundance's Anatomy of a Scene on DVDs.

The trailer. I sorta collect them. I'd prefer to have the trailer for every movie I have.

Director's commentary (or a commentary from someone else with a special relationship to a film).

Favorite commentary exchange:

John Carpenter: I must have been doing drugs when I told you to do that...
Rowdy Roddy Piper: That's not possible, I had them all!

Obviously, Commentaries like the one above make them my favorite extra feature.
