Looks like MSRP is $49.99....which is 50% off. Not sure where 72% off came from.

dvdpricesearch hardly ever updates the MSRP for stuff, so when it gets a MSRP drop, then a price drop, they don't account for the MSRP, just the price diff..

It's not horrible. The prints are pretty good. I have the set and watched it on a POTA weekend marathon a month ago or so. Definitely worth freakin' 25 bucks!!!

Plus it has a great documentary included as well hosted by Roddy McDowell. The satisfaction point becomes even higher with this low price point.

I know it comes out to about $4.20 a movie/documentary.
cant beat that. Would prefer anamorphic, but hey, got big wide screen so will probably look more than adequate. Been waiting for this set to drop.
The documentary is fantastic, saw it a few years ago on tv.
Too bad the series is still 45 or so......Would love to get that too, although all the episodes are basically the same.......two guys that look like starskyand hutch were loinclothes and primitive clothes, walk under trees and have talking apes drop nets on them every episode, then galen comes and bails them out.......not as good as the movies.

So this definitely has all 5 movies? The Amazon decription doesn't mention that! I guess the 484 minutes is a tipoff, but....

Love the first and second ones, but really starting to like all the social commentary they jammed into the 3rd to 5th ones. Too bad Tim Burtons had to blow it in the last act, with the WTF moment (made no sense on any level), or we might have gotten more out of the series too..................

What was the POA movie where there were people that could read your mind?
These people or things basically thought what they wanted to happen and it did. That was a crazy movie.

It made no sense, with leo the human coming home to dc circa now, with apes everywhere and an ape-thade-lincoln memorial........If thade had appeared to be crafty with machinery (like cornelius or maybe zaius) I might have been able to think thade figured out how to fly a pod get to earth way before leo and start up ape-land.....but thade, as cool as he was, looked like he was only one step above throwing his own poop........let alone flying a time travel pod..........
just knocking the ending, I still like the movie, none-the-less......but slams shut the door for a sequel, without alllllloooottt of explaining..........

I recently read the original book by pierre bouell?......was a bit different than the movies.....still a good read though. The apes were more like british people with suites or something, went on fox hunts (but we were the foxes), (not slighting british people - or - apes)

How would you like it if the apes compared you to British people?

One thing i could never figure out in the original POTA is how Heston does not know he is on earth,i mean i can see a society of intelligent apes evolving in a diffrent galaxy but what are the chances of a society of apes in a diffrent galaxy speaking english

We've been broadcasting tv and radio signals out into space for decades. I expect the rest of galaxy has adopted English as the one true language by now. Meanwhile the French wave their fists in vain at the overwhelming cultural imperialism of the USA.

to chime back in on the dvds....the doc that is in the box set is the same doc on the two disc SE of planet of the apes ( the anamorphic one)
Not a bad price, but I do expect to see a new box sometime next year. After the new bruce lee box and the Rodgers & hammerstein set this is one of Fox's last "old sins" to be corrected.

As long as they don't force me to forego dentistry for the rest of my life, I guess it's not that bad.
