Sony's PSP uses UMD (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&rls=GGLD%2CGGLD%3A2005-09%2CGGLD%3Aen&q=define%3Auniversal+media+disc) (Universal Media Disc) for both games and movies. There is no tv out, the main connectors include Memory Stick Duo slot, USB, DC-out, DC-in 5V and headset. Hope this helps...:D

If it's a Universal Media Disc, then why can't it play in my DVD player?

If it's a Universal Media Disc, then why can't it play in my DVD player?
http://i.cnn.net/cnn/interactive/tech/0503/gallery.sony.psp/04.UMD-angle.jpg
The UMD Specifications:
Dimensions: 2.5” width x .16” height x 2.5” diameter
Weight: .35 ounces
Disc Diameter: 2.36” (60 millimeter)
Maximum Capacity: 1.8 gigabytes (single sided, dual layer )
Laser Wavelength: 660mm (Red Laser)
Encryption: AES 128bit
UMD Audio: MP3, ATRAC3Plus, PCM, MPEG 4 AVC

The video quality on UMD movies is 480 x 272, designed specifically for the PSP screen resolution. It's less than regular DVD. Aside from all the info above, it wouldn't physically fit in a DVD player. It's encased in a plastic shell.

But if it's made by Sony why is it called Universal?

Universal as in it the disc is for more than just video games...

Universal Media Discs can store video games, movies, and music. In fact, these UMDs can also be hybrid discs just like the upcoming "Stealth" release. Not only do you get the movie but also a special edition of the "Wipeout Pure" video game.

I didn't use the 35 off of 300 for the PSP or XBOX but I did use it to get a Canon digital camera for $267 that retails at Best Buy for 349. The SD 400 5 megapixel was my choice. They were already on sale for 296 but the I found a Belkin cassette adapter for 5.50 which got me the 35 off.
