Caught this on Masterpeice Theater about a year ago. It's pretty good. It's a nice retelling of the film for more modern audiences. Not to mean it has an MTV soundtrack or anything, but it's less distant and warmer than 1965 version. In some cases I even think it handled some story points better and even made me appreciate Lean's version even more.

I got the first email saying I would get another email with the order # but its been over 24 hours. I kind of thought it would end this way.

I got the initial e-mail but never the "confirmation number" e-mail.
Wonder if it is in fact cancelled since I had a few other movies on that order.

Just noticed the same thing with my order. Oh well--not an order where I had any real interest in the title. I was a lot more upset when Timelife canceled my order for the Superbowl sets a few months back.

Yeah, I just looked up my order, and they have my Zhivago as discontinued. No warning email or anything. DDD, if you're reading this, you should be ashamed of such practices...

If you're in the Chicago area, I recall seeing a number of the new Doctor Zhivago DVD sets at the DDD outlet store in Itasca for about $4.99 each. But I haven't been in there in a while, so they might not still be there. They were in the VHS/clearance section in the back.

"We're sorry but the item "DDIRI000102D DOCTOR ZHIVAGO" that you placed
in your order has been discontinued and is no longer available. You
have not been charged for this item. Please accept our apologies for any
inconvenience we have caused you."
I just sent them an e-mail back cutting and pasting the listing for the miniseries from their website and informing them that this title is not discontinued and is very much available. I'll see what their response is. I don't like feeling like I'm getting played by them, especially when I've spent tons of money with them over the years.

Nope, not from the second e-mail. Guess once I called them on their faulty response, they figured it was better to just not respond at all anymore. Whatever--this is way down on my list of priorities. Figured I'd take a shot at it though.

Anyone try getting this through e-mailing customer service? Here is the response I got:
"Please note that you had ordered for the item: IRI000102 DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, which has been discontinued. This is why your order did not go through. However, the item : ATL008651 DVD : DOCTOR ZHIVAGO is available with us and you may place an order online at your convenience or call customer service for assistance."
Doesn't sound like they will honor the price.........

Well, they honored the price for a bunch of as (as your probably saw). Maybe their stock ran out. If your order wasn't cancelled, leave it be. Maybe they'll eventually 'mis-ship' ATL008651.
