(DEAD) Dr Zhivago Tv Miniseries 3.99 At DDD

I just came across this price drop from 7.99 since it has been sitting on my wish list. At this price I finally couldn't resist it. (39.95 retail)

Thanks OP.

DDD has this movie listed twice. Priced at $3.99 and $26.00.

All right, I bit. Thanks OP. Read a few reviews on Amazon, and this seems to have been well done. For $3.99, why not.

Caught this on Masterpeice Theater about a year ago. It's pretty good. It's a nice retelling of the film for more modern audiences. Not to mean it has an MTV soundtrack or anything, but it's less distant and warmer than 1965 version. In some cases I even think it handled some story points better and even made me appreciate Lean's version even more.

DDD removed the $3.99 listing (only the $26.00 listing remains) and quietly canceled my order (no email notification/explanation).

I got the first email saying I would get another email with the order # but its been over 24 hours. I kind of thought it would end this way.

Same here.
I got the initial e-mail but never the "confirmation number" e-mail.
Wonder if it is in fact cancelled since I had a few other movies on that order.

Just noticed the same thing with my order. Oh well--not an order where I had any real interest in the title. I was a lot more upset when Timelife canceled my order for the Superbowl sets a few months back.

I picked this up during the last 20% off sale for $7.19. It was in the Bargain section at that point, for the whole length of the sale. Haven't watched it yet though.

Anybody call DDD about this?? They should at least do an "Amazon" and send us our Dear John letter. To just not fulfill the order with no further contact is bad customer service IMO.

Well, wow. I just got a shipping notice. Mine went out today. I guess I got in early enough. Thanks so much, OP!

Mine shipped today as well. It's too bad that few were able to get in on this.

Now that some have shipped at this price, it seems there should be justification for the rest of us since they did confirm receiving our order. I would call, but I am in Italy right now and long distance would kill the deal for me. Anyone?

I've sent an e-mail asking why my order was changed without mention. I'll share my response once I get it.

Yeah, I just looked up my order, and they have my Zhivago as discontinued. No warning email or anything. DDD, if you're reading this, you should be ashamed of such practices...

If you're in the Chicago area, I recall seeing a number of the new Doctor Zhivago DVD sets at the DDD outlet store in Itasca for about $4.99 each. But I haven't been in there in a while, so they might not still be there. They were in the VHS/clearance section in the back.
