Why isn't "Resident Evil 4" called anything?

Like as a subtitle? There's "Resident Evil: CODE: Veronica X", "Resident Evil: Nemesis", "Resident Evil: Zero", "Outbreak", "Dead Aim", others?

So how come one of the most revered and highly reviewed in the franchise (now on GC and soon to be on PS2) called anything cool?

Then, what would you name it?

Well, none of the 'new to Gamecube' RE titles have had a subtitle. I don't consider "Zero" a subtitle any more than I consider '4' a subtitle.

The numbered ones (except 3) don't seem to have subtitles. It's the offshoot ones like Dead Aim and Code Veronica that do.

Good games don't need a 'catchy' subtitle

I prefer "Resident Evil 4: Play This Game and it Will Change Your Mind Because it's Just That Good."

"Resident Evil 4: Even if you hated or never played the others, you'll love this one because it is so different and unique, except for character names it isn't the same franchise at all"

or

don't even call it "Resident Evil" just...

"(insert any brand new horror title)"

I have played it. I've played all of them I give every game a chance no matter how much I hate the franchise or makers of the game. It is better then the other ones, but still not good enough for me to buy. I wil agree the controls are a lot better.

Slightly OT but why wasn't Code Veronica considered part four and this one part five? Code Veronica continued just after RE2 and even featured the return of Chris Redfield. Not only that but the gameplay wasn't vastly different like Dead Aim so it felt like anatural progression of the series.

Geez, dude, it's 1, 2, 3, Veronica, 4... What the hell did they teach you in kindergarten?!

At that point, the Playstation was still the official home of the Resident Evil series, so I guess they didn't give it a number because they wanted it to seem like a spin-off rather than a part of the main series. And it was kind of a spin-off. It looked and played like Resident Evil and it had Resident Evil characters, but it was the first game to take us out of Racoon City and away from the initial outbreak of the virus. Of course that changed with Resident Evil 4, but a lot of things changed with Resident Evil 4.

I consider Code Veronica to be part of the main series because that game is where we learn that
Spoiler:
Wesker is still alive and has super-human powers.
If you skip from Res Evil 3 straight to 4, you would miss that.
