Told ya....
The best cast and by far the best of the sci-fi related premiere's. No question. I also tend to agree that this will in all likelihood appeal to quite a few outside of the genre's hardcore base.

There have been lots of shows and movies about the discovery of Alien life, but this show so far to me is doing it differently, with great characters. Hopefully the standard of the first episode will be maintained.

Reasons why the show looks promising: Spiner & Dinklage
Reasons why the show looks not so promising: Executive Producer Brannon "I helped Berman ruin Star Trek" Braga.
But I'll still tune in for the pilot on Friday to see how it goes...

Gah, here we go again!
I don't like Brannon Braga, but having him as producer of Threshold does not sound like bad news. At least he would be drawn away from the Trek franchise and Threshold does not seem like a bad sci-fi series per se. All this Braga bashing is starting to get obsessive and irrational now...
And as for Brannon and Berman with the Trek franchise: although they've both got alot to answer for, with that cash cow running for many years it was inevitable the series was going to creatively dry up. Also in defense of Rick Berman, after the end of Voyager he actually asked the studio bosses to wait a few years to make a new Trek series so that they would have time to develope their new show, but no the studio bosses requested that Enterprise would start soon after.
And so the studio suits at Paramount demanded B&B that the magic goose would lay more golden eggs but ended up breaking it, so while B&B are not very good, in some respects they are not the harbingers of doom that some sociopathic Trekkies make them out to be.
And while Braga is too up his ass with high concept stories, he still managed to pen very episodes on TNG and even parts of Voyager, so Threshold could give him that last chance of redemtion.

Also agree with Bando's answer above.
