I have to start 2 of these recievers.
Hines Ward
Antwaan Randle El
Charles Rogers
Marty Booker
Keenan McCardell
Im leaning towards Ward and McCardell
I also have Bret Favre and Jake Delhomme. Despite Walkers injury I have a feeling that Favre wants to make up for last week and light it up. Ill probably stick with Delhomme though.

A few questions....
1. Should I drop the Jets D/ST and pick up the Colts or Lions D/ST?
2. Should I pick up Trent Green to replace Vick? (who I think is a terrible fantasy QB)
3. Is Willie Parker still starting this weekend?

I would go with Bell just because Cleveland's offense can't move the ball. When they are down they resort to the pass.

Guess I need to find some stiff to replace Javon Walker in one league. What sucks is that it is a keeper cap league, so I need to clear cap room to keep him (for next year) and pick up someone else.

Since it is still early in the season (and therefore still a bit of a crapshoot), I am going to start Carr (@ Pitt) rather than Pennington (vs. Miami).
and I will also start:
D. McAllister @ NYG
C. Portis @ Dal
R. Wayne vs. Jac
L. Coles @ Miami
Crumpler @ Sea
Racker vs. StL
and I am hoping to drop the Jets' D (vs. Mia) and pick up the Lions (@ Chi).

M. Bennett @ Cin
L. Betts @ Dal
D. Mason @ Ten
M. Williams @ Chi
A. Toomer vs. NO
B. Watson @ Car

1. I probably would do this. I like to rotate my defenses each week.
2. Hold on to Vick and pick up Green (drop some other scrub).
3. Fast Willie will be starting again. Play him.
B.A.: Your lineup looks good. The only toss up is with Mason and Coles. With Wright playing at qb I would start Mason, especially against Tenn.
It helps when people ask questions about players that they also list the team that the player is up against (like B.A. did).

Is "Cadillac" Williams for real?
Playing his first home game against Buffalo in week two. Saw his points rack up while he rode the pine and I started K. Jones (Det) and Magahee(Buff) instead. May bench K. Jones (vs Bears IN Chicago) and play my two RBs head to head. Comments?

Yes and No. He will be good, but he is still a rookie, so he will have some off games too. Buf's defense is pretty solid so it is not a sure thing to start him against them.

Unless you are in a deep 14 to 16 team league, there are probably QBs on the waiver that will do better this week than either of your current QBs. For week 2, I'd say that Bledsoe (vs. Was), Dilfer (@ GB), Warner (vs. StL), Lefwich (@ Ind), Harrington (@ Chi), Frerotte (@ Jets), Griese (vs. Buf), Roethlisberger (@ Hou), JP Losman (@ TB), E. Manning (@ NO) and even Anthony Wright (@ Ten) will all do better statistically than Carr or Pennington. Also, looking a little ahead to week 3, you have Carr on bye and Pennington vs. Jacksonville. I think you should seriously consider picking up a short-term QB for the next two weeks.

Ok,3rd wide reciever slot (keeping Holt and S. Smith in all season, no matter what the matchups are):
Randel El vs. Houston
Stokley vs. Jacksonville
Stallworth vs. Giants
M. Williams vs. Chicago
I'm thinking Randel El, since Houston's secondary doesn't seem too fearsome and Stokley's still getting over his injury. I'm hoping the Lions start using Williams more and more in the endzone later in the season.
I also have both Witten and LJ Smith at TE... neither produced much last week, but I'm a bit worried about Witten's role being reduced because of Crayton.
I was surprised last week, because I thought my WRs were the weak link on my team, and yet they were by far my best performers, with my QB (Favre over Palmer, which is changing this week, even though Favre should rebound), RB (Shaun Alexander and laMont Jordan) and TE positions producing minimally. Now I regret taking half-starters (Michael Bennet and T. Smith) as my RB backups, since they have nowhere to go but down... and while productive QBs are plentiful in free agency, I can't find a useful free agent WR or RB to save my life.

I would go with Bell just because Cleveland's offense can't move the ball. When they are down they resort to the pass.
I think that in week 2 Droughns will perform better than Tatum Bell. Even though Cleveland's offense can't move the ball, the GB defense can't stop anybody either, so something's gotta give. Bell may not even be the starter in Denver because Mike Anderson is listed day-to-day. Plus, the last time Denver played SD at home the whole team rushed for only 37 yards against the Chargers; so Bell may not do well even if he plays full time. Droughns is now the starter and feature back in Cleveland, at least this week he's the better play.

My Starters
QB: K. Collins (Oak - QB)
WR: M. Harrison (Ind - WR)
WR: K. McCardell (SD - WR)
WR: N. Burleson (Min - WR)
RB: P. Holmes (KC - RB)
RB: T. Barber (NYG - RB)
TE: A. Crumpler (Atl - TE)
W/R: A. Randel El (Pit - WR)
K: J. Reed (Pit - K)
DEF: Philadelphia (Phi - DEF)
My Bench
BN: D. Brees (SD - QB)
BN: T. Bell (Den - RB)
BN: M. Faulk (StL - RB)
BN: K. Curtis (Stl - WR)
BN: C. Rogers (Det - WR)
BN: B. Engram (Sea - WR)
BN: D. Stallworth (NO - WR)
BN: R. Williams (JAX - WR)
My Questions:
1.Do I keep Burleson as my #3 vs. Cincy? He was a producer for me last year, but was lackluster in week #1.
2. Collins vs. KC or Brees vs. Den?
3. Randel El vs Hou or Curtis vs. AZ?

This is pretty much a toss up but I would go with Horn and Kennison just because im not a fan of starting 2 WRs from the same team but I would definitly go with Horn,he is a true #1 and he is always being thrown to.

What do people think about a straight-up trade Larry "I didn't do it" Johnson for "Fast" Willie Parker?
The way I see it, Parker looks good, but the Pit RB situation may become a mess pretty soon. LJ looked good but he has the Priest running in front of him.
This is strictly a depth move as neither of these guys is a must start for me, but I would like to see what people think about this one.

Oohh...that is an interesting trade. I would do it in my situation (I have Holmes). I figure Holmes and LJ will both end up with 1000+ yards....but PH will have more. As for TD's...not sure..i'm giving the edge to PH for now. As for Parker...tough to tell, but I think he'll have less opportunity once Bettis and Staley get back. Bettis does alot of goal line (TD taker), and Staley probably could/will split yardage with Parker.

Depends. Dennis Green is a stubborn asshole. Once he decides on someone he rarely changes his mind. Shipp has more than earned the starting spot on this team, and I am sure that he would've had more yardage than JJ Arrington last week. That kid is just not ready yet.

Well, you have in Carr and Pennington probably the worst NFL QB tandum right now. Unless you're really ready to have no QB scorings for week two you need better alternatives. As improbable as this sounds, there is a slight chance that Carr could do worse against the Steelers than he did last week at Buffalo. Houston's offensive line is putrid, and Carr was sacked 5 times and fumbled once last week, as well as 3 INTs. Pittsburgh is going to clamp down on Davis and Andre Johnson, and there's really nobody else Carr can pass to because the rest of the receivers stink. (Hint: Name another fantasy worthy Houston offensive player...)
I also drafted Carr in one league, strictly for the week 5 spot start when Culpepper is on bye. But now I am reconsidering that decision as well...

Someone just dropped C. Palmer, and I am really tempted to get rid of Hasselbeck and pick him up. I had Hass last year, and he let me down big time. The first game this year was decent at best, but included 4 turnovers. Should I drop Hass and pick up the trendy "breakout year" QB (who had one hell of a week 1)?

Chris: I'd drop your 2nd TE and maybe your 2nd D, since keeping both is only marginally better, versus picking up a couple quality picks to sit on.

I just added Losman as my #3 QB. (Only 1 QB plays at a time). I have Collins and Brees already. I figured picking up Losman was low risk. I dropped a RB who would be relegated to the bench except for my RB bye week #5. I know he didn't have great/good first week numbers, but they look like they'll win some games. I'd rather have him as a starter, than sitting on someone's backup.
Anyone else pick him up?

I never have more than one QB on my roster, unless it is the week before the bye week. Of course I also have Manning. :)
But the way I see it, when would you ever play Losman instead of Brees or Collins? I just can't see when. I would rather fill my roster with extra WR's and RB's. At least with these positions you have to start several of them, so it is better to have more insurance for those positions.
This "one only" rule also applies to TE's and Defs. Except with defenses, I will occassionally have a couple on my team if I am deciding between which is the best play for the next week.
Personally I think Collins and Brees are a solid duo to have, heck I would even drop Brees if any decent backup RB's (i.e Chester Taylor) are available. It is nice to not have to scramble on the waiver wire for the quick pick up after you notice a starting RB gets injured. Just my philosophy...
pedagogue
09-15-05, 01:15 AM
I feel good with Collins and Brees.....but I saw him out there and was debating if he is worth sitting on. I am thin at RB after my starters....but there isn't ANYONE worth getting as a RB...so I stocked up on WRs and am relying on my other positions to get me points. Tiki and Priest *knocks on wood* will have good years, and I would consider trading a WR later in the year for a decent back up RB.

I was thinking about this all day yesterday - all of those quarterbacks are still available. Griese plays Buffalo in his next contest (therefore Losman is playing in Tampa), Dilfer plays Green Bay @ Lambeau, Frerotte plays the Jets @ Giants Stadium, and Wright plays Tennessee in Nashville.
Griese would be my best overall option, but since he is playing Buffalo, I'm actually debating picking up Wright, and I if so - Mason will be starting over Coles.
Basically - I'll leave it up to you guys. I can start Carr or Pennington (just thinking about my QB draft right now makes me want to kick my friend's ass) or I can pick up one of the strokers listed above. Suggestions...

Harrison has to share the ball w/ Wayne, Stokely, Edge and Clark. Ward and Johnson are clearly the superior receivers on their team. Leftwich is a decent back-up when/if you need him.

Bottomline: DO NOT start Carr this week. Even if you do not want to pick up a spot start QB, Pennington would still put up [only relatively speaking] better numbers. I even see Tim Rattay :grumble: , Kyle Orton :yack: , and J.P. Losman :whofart: outperforming Carr this week...
I would suggest picking up Griese or Wright for week 2. With the following week in mind, Griese (@ GB) is a better choice than Wright (bye).

Ok I have the following players as starters for week 2:
QB D. McNabb
@SF
WR D. Mason
@Ten
WR A. Battle
@Phi
RB S. Alexander
@Atl
RB C. Benson
@Det
TE T. Heap
@Ten
W/R T. Brown
@Car
K A. Vinatieri
@Car
DEF Dallas
@Was
The following players are on the bench:
WR B. Edwards
@GB
QB G. Frerotte
@NYJ
RB V. Hayes
@Hou
TE D. Wilcox
@Ten
K D. Akers
@SF
DEF Bal
@Ten
So I am afraid I might have to sit McNabb since right now it's looking like 51-49 he'll play. If that is the case, who should I drop and who should I pick up to start for him? Also, who should replace who in the starting lineup?
EDIT: Dropped Lewis, and picked up Headbanger as my reserve QB.
Hate to be nagative, but your recievers are not very good. Plus you seriously lack depth in RB and WR, who are you going to play when the bye weeks come up? Neither Haynes nor Wilcox warrants a roster spot on your bench. Try looking for better players in waivers. If Frank Gore, Brandon Jacobs, Robert Ferguson, or Kevin Kurtis are still available, you should pick them up ASAP and kick Daniel Wilcox and Verron Haynes to the curb...

Ouch. Even if that is the case, you still shouldn't keep Wilcox or Haynes. As soon as people drop any half way decent RB or WRs during bye weeks you need to pounce on them...

What do you think I should do in this situation? I am the commisioner of one of my leagues. We get a $20 weekly prize for getting the highest score. So the guy wins by 1 point. Yesterday, there was a stat correction (Kerry Collins had an interception erased). So now the guy that had Kerry Collins got the highest score. I think Im going to declare him the weekly winner and strip the other guy. That's fair, right?

Yeah, the weekly awards are given at the end of the season. Kind of sucks for the guy that thought he won, but too bad, I guess. On Tuesday, I posted on the message board that he was the winner, but I just posted another message saying the other guy won. The first guy will probably be pissed, but tough shit.

I would sit Chambers. I look at it this way. Both Pennington and Ferrote are gambles right now as the starting QBs. However, Ferrote has sevral other options (i.e. Booker, McMicheal), whereas Coles is the number one option for Pennington. I can't believe that Coles will drop three TD chances again and that Pennington will continue to self implode. It is a tough call but I would start Coles over Chambers. As for Bruce, Bulger threw 56 times last week...enough said?

I would go with Dunn. Andre Johnson has a very shaky David Carr throwing to him right now, and the Caddy is going up against a tough D. Last year in week 17, Dunn ripped the Seahawks for 132 yards.
However, if you are in a TD only league, forget everything I just said and go with Caddy. And then promptly quit your league and join the performance league revolution. ;)

How many sacks did New England have against the Raiders? Every box score I've seen says one. Out of nowhere Yahoo changed the NE sack total from one to two. That extra sack cost me a victory.
