Got a peek at the Sunday ads for Target and Best Buy, Sept. 18-24.
Best Buy will have the first season of Galactica at $42.99.
At BB, Desperate Housewives is at $37.99. Those with the $10 coupon from the Lost bonus disc will get it for $27.99. But they're also giving you the $10 off if you buy Lost and DH at the same time. They're tossing in a free 2006 DH calendar.
Didn't see Galactica in the Target ad. But they have Desp Housewives for about the same price (before the coupon). Instead of a calendar, you get a bonus disc with the "Sorting Out the Dirty Laundry" recap special.

I asked about DH extras in the "Anyone want my coupon thread".
A 2006 calendar? That's lame. At least they could've done the same thing as Lost and included the clip show [unless it's already on the set].

Well, you can get the clip show, at Target.
That seems odd, as it's usually BB that puts out those kind of bonus discs.

I was hoping for a little better price on BSG. Hopefully my $10 digital coupon from Lost Season1 will show up in time to make the deal a little better.
If there is any good deal in store for BSG, can a $10 digital coupon be used in store somehow????

The best you can do is order online using the $10 digital coupon, and choose in-store pickup. Not sure if they'll have any extras with the disk, but you should be able to get it when you pick up in-store.
I am planning on using my coupon (assuming I get it!) to do this. If there is an extra, I will pick up a couple of BSG off the shelf, and walk it over to the CS to do my pickup. That way I will be sure to get the extras.

I forgot you can do an in store pickup at BB. I remembered that it is circuit city that does not allow in store pickup for DVDs.
I am sure that is what I will be doing!!!

Any chance Fry's might have a one day special on Desperate Housewives? Maybe for say, $34.99? I could then use the ad, go to Best Buy to pricematch it, and then present the coupon for $10.00 off of that. Making it around $24.99 for the set. I think its stupid they didn't include the "Sorting out the dirty laundry" special on there. It also would have been nice to have the OPRAH interview of all of the Desperate Housewives on there as well. Since Disney owns both, I don't see why this could not have happened? It would have been nice.

Ditto. If you could use the $10 coupon on the sale price, that'll work out nice. And the calender could be nice, especially if my wife becomes addicted to it as she has been for Lost (bought the set last Saturday, the plan was to watch a couple episodes each day with her. She's already watched them all...)
I wonder if this is the calender that Best Buy is giving away:

Ghost in the Shell: SAC Season 2: 17.99
Pretender Season 2: 29.99
Ned and Stacey Season 1: 29.99
From the Earth to the Moon: 75.99
And others listed in the new release section:
Longest Yard (w/ bonus DVD): Low Price
Mallrats: 14.99 Reward Zone members/16.99 nonmembers (next to Longest Yard)
Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D: 19.99
Barbie and Magic of Pegasus: 14.99
Earn 15,000 bonus Reward Zone points with purchase of "Sharkboy and Lavagirl" and "Barbie and MOP"
The Outsiders - The Complete Novel: 19.99

Just a note: If you plan on buying the Battlestar Galactica Season 1, and you already have the miniseries (which costs $20), sell the miniseries ASAP on ebay (or whereever) because BSG S1 includes the miniseries.
Personally, I love BSG but I've already seen all of the episodes (and some of them twice), so I won't be buying the set. Most likely I'll pick up Desperate Housewives (because I missed most of the episodes), but not BSG.

I read the Desperate Housewives coupon and it says that it is good for 10 dollars off of the regular price of the set (not the sale price). I hope that they allow us to use it on the sale price and not revert back to the regular price before taking the discount off. I highly doubt that they will let you price match a competitors price and then take 10 bucks off of that with the coupon.

The answer: no one knows.
My educated guess is that you'll be able to use the coupon on the set at their sale price, but not on a price-matched price.
Keep in mind that they are offering $3 off for reward-zone members, and a free calendar. I'd rather that they had free colanders and actually it'd be much more appropriate, but calendar it is.

1. Dont sell your Battlestar Galactica miniseries, it has extras that arent on the release.
2. Serenity isnt out until Sept 30, so if there was a price cut, it probably wouldnt be until the Sept 25 ads.... not that it matters here in Central Florida - there arent any in stock at any Best Buy (there was a deal with Space Above and Beyond that you get $20 of Firefly and BB says they have them on order)

Three or four Christmases ago, my Target let me price match. But the last time I went in there to price match, the cashier said they don't do that anymore, and a CSR from their website concurred. They didn't like it too much when I thanked them for how well their weekly ad worked at Fred Meyer.

If I was going to buy both Desperate Housewives AND Lost, AND I have the $10 off coupon for Desperate Housewives (from Lost), any chances that I could get the $10 off for purchasing both PLUS the $10 Off Desperate Housewives.

Absolutely. They tried pulling this with me on another offer that ran recently
but I politely explained that the reward zone price is not an offer, it's a
"reward" for a) buying their frequent shopper card and b) being a frequent
shopper :) If they still won't budge, point out that if the reward zone
price is an offer, so is the $37.99 price, as it's a sale and not the "regular

Do you plan on watching it first? ...Yes, I'll watch it first. On occasion I'll buy DVDs with the objective of watching them and then reselling them.

I was already checking out at customer service doing a pricematch on something else so I pointed out that the $10 should be off the reward zone price and he agreed no problem, so DH for $24.99 (no tax in NH).

Anyone find any Lost sets at their stores still having the Bonus disc? Would they let you open up Lost immediately to use the coupon if you were lucky enough to find one that still had the disc attached?
As of yesterday (9/20) afternoon, Nashua, NH had 4 or 5 of them.

For those of us who didn't get a rebate form in their DH set...

I called the Buena Vista Customer Service number a few minutes ago.
After sitting through a recorded message and about 8 minutes on hold, I did get through.
When I mentioned "Desperate Housewives" the first thing the Rep said was "ah, you need a booklet!" I explained that I was looking for a rebate form. He said there was no such thing, but there was a coupon at Best Buy.
I pointed out that I believed there was one, and that some people had actually received them. He said he didn't know about it, but would check it for me.
After about a minute or two, he came back on, and said that I was right after all, but that no one had told him about it. He took my details and said that I should receive the rebate pack in 7-10 days.
I guess a few people here will be making a phone call!

<sigh> CSR yesterday had no idea about the rebate, so I guess I'll call again tomorrow.

Just received DH from buy.com, I preordered it with Lost a few months back to save $10. Anyway, it has the Mail in Certificate in it. At the bottom of the form, the fine print reads Retailers excluded from this offer are Kmart, WalMart, Sears, AAFES, Meijer, Best Buy, Circuit City, Hastings, Blockbuster, Amazon, Suncoast, Sam Goody and Media Pay. Also, receipts must be dated between Sept. 20 and Dec. 31, so if you bought LOST a few weeks back, it looks like it will not work.

I saw that also. I wonder if that is actually legal. The details of the rebate on not listed on the package-only the inside. How they could exclude certain retailers is beyond me. This is somethign waiting for a class action suit or attorney general inquiry. There is an Orville Redenbacker rebate for 10.00 on LOST. You buy 3 packs and send the rebate form with receits to them...

Why would they not be able to exclude certain retailers?

It's their rebate they can do whatever they want. You shouldn't be buying products with the intent of solely getting a rebate. Perhaps this is why people buying them from BestBuy are not finding the rebate coupons inside, they're not meant for product shipped to BestBuy.

I went to Target first thing in the morning and bought DH to get the bonus disk. During lunch I went Best Buy and bought DH using the $10 off coupon. After work, I went back to Target to get a refund from the DH set I bought from BB. Same UPC. I got the refund.
