Does anyone have scans of the current Universal Hitchcock covers? I ask because I like keeping my titles in keepcases and the new Masterpiece Collection apparently will all be in one box. I would love to print out all the current covers and put the discs in those. If anyone has them or knows where I can get them, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any help. :)

Or better yet, how about some covers using the original poster art to bring them more in line with the Warner box set? :)

Ahhh... To get the original Vertigo and Psycho movie posters as opposed to those cheesy covers that they come out with...That would be nice

nausicaa has done a bunch of Hitchcock covers featuring the original artwork. Most of them are available at The Den.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.... I'm brand new here. First post!
Where's this mystical magical "Den"? I want to replace those horrible cases in the Hitchcock Masterpiece set, and it sounds like this nausicaa chap is my savior.

I started working on my own covers. Nausicaa's are mondo cool, don't get me wrong. :D2: I'm confident that mine will be on the same level.
However....
Part of my plan is to incorporate the back covers from the previous Universal editions. Unfortunately, I never bought them all! I'm missing:
The Trouble With Harry
Torn Curtain
Topaz
Frenzy
Family Plot
So far I haven't found a site that features scans of the existing retail covers/back covers. Maybe they're on Generetic, but you can't even look at the damn threads without being a paying member.
Anyone? 300dpi scans? Naturally I'll share my finished covers with whoever wants 'em.

To answer ZackR's question that started this thread: there are some very good scans of all the Universal Hitchcock editions (not to mention all the foreign editions too!) at the following site:
http://www.daveyp.com/hitchcock/index.php
Seriously, for the true Hitchcock fan, the site is indispensible.

Kriegersaurus, Id love to get those covers from too if possible. Like you, I think the nausicaa covers are great, although I prefer something similar to the originals for the back cover and spine. Basically, I like covers that still fit the studio template...ie, displaying specs in the same style, logos, etc...makes them look more real I guess. Anyhow, my email is etvick@nc.rr.com , thanks!
Oh, and joliom, thanks for the links!
Kriegersaurus
10-18-05, 10:44 AM
ENDContra, I feel exactly the same way. Nausicaa's covers are very well done, but they look more like paperback book covers than DVD covers. That's not a put-down by any means. For my own personal tastes, I like my covers to look like actual studio releases.

I need :
TROUBLE W/HARRY
MARNIE
THE BIRDS
PSYCHO
VERTIGO
I dont need the ad poster cover, I would just as soon have the unified "Signature Collection" artwork...unless someone has something better.

There's always Harry_Lime's covers if you guys prefer a "cleaner" layout. They're all sized for thinpaks, but could also be modified into standard singles with the blink of an eye.

Btw, my bad. It's Hairy_Lime not Harry_Lime. Sorry if that was throwing you guys off running a search. So far he's done matching covers for the following Hitchcock's:
The 39 Steps
The Birds
Dial M for Murder
Frenzy
I Confess
The Lady Vanishes
The Man Who Knew Too Much
North by Northwest
Notorious
Psycho
Rear Window
Rebecca
Rope
Saboteur
Shadow of a Doubt
Spellbound
Strangers on a Train
Suspicion
To Catch a Thief
The Trouble with Harry
Vertigo
The Wrong Man
Hopefully he'll knock off Marnie, Family Plot, Topaz and Torn Curtain soon too.

Thanks joliom, I finally found them when I searched for titles of the movies rather than his name. Those covers are way hot, but Im unsure whether I want to go with the original theatrical poster versions or these.
Kriegersaurus, thats a good site, but for some reason hes taken down the scans of the original releases....any reason? I hadnt downloaded them yet and was hoping to get them in case I decided to do a patch job with some of the other covers I had seen.

ENDContra, as far as I can tell, the scans are still there. For example, here's a direct link to Vertigo:
As for my own efforts, I've decided to abandon the original back covers. I just wasn't able to get the results I wanted. So I've amassed a collection of suitable graphics and fonts (thanks again, Joliom!), and I'll be creating my own from scratch. I just finished a template for the specs box (languages, subtitles, aspect ratios, etc), and it looks fabulous (almost identical to the real thing). My back covers will probably still somewhat resemble the Universal editions in overall design, but they won't be direct copies. It'll take me longer, but I think the wait will be justified by the results.
And yes, my Vertigo will kick much ass. :D

yeah, some place posted seperate front and back scans of the current Universal covers-and some are differing size; Some done throught the plastic-which shines etc-some ar not FLAT against the scanner, and are blurry in spots-if youre no good with Photoshop, then nothing can be done;
I would like simple full cover scans of the Universals
