Help! Defective disc!

I don't know if any of you guys ever experienced this. I have this Bridge at Remagen DVD from MGM that I bought abt two years ago. I've viewed this disc when I bought it, no problem. And I'm sure there was no defect, scratch or other kinds on the disc surface / layer othrwise I would've noticed it.

But recently when I re-viewed it I found in certain chapter, the playback is not smooth, it even skips. And when I checked the disc I noticed the layer is no longer smooth - it has some spots in several parts of the disc - which are actually more like round-shaped small DENTS! I never transport this disc - it just lays there in my cabinet - so I wonder where are those dents coming from...

Is there any way to restore the condition of such disc? Wiping, cleaning?

My current player (Pioneer 676) apparently couldn't handle that defect so in that particular part (chapt 13 if I'm not mistaken - on min. 35 to 38) it always skip several minutes. Other parts seem OK.

Help please?
