Hello, well I convinced my mom and her first husband to plan a trip to Vegas. So they booked rooms for 3 nights at the Bellagio (I heard that place was okay ;) ) for the second week in October.

We are going to see Cirque Due Soleil show "O" on Tuesday night and Danny Gans at the Mirage on Wednesday night. I'm not sure who he is or what he does, but I'm up for a new experience.

So I'm a dance freak and would like to find a club that plays Euro House, trance, Hi NRG music to dance to. What are some good dance clubs that don't cost an arm and a leg to get into and don't make you wait in line? I HATE waiting in lines and don't do it if at all possible. I just want to get there, get in, get my drink and dance for 4 hours straight or so.

What other things would you suggest that are fun to do (no strip clubs thank you  ) that can be done during the day?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx Chris, 'I never thought I would post in the Las Vegas Forum' the Ace Reporter!

Since you're staying at Bellagio, check out Light. It's kind of small, it's overpriced, and I think they play different music on different nights. But, it's close and the girls seem to flock there.

Since you aren't a chick, good luck finding any place that won't charge an arm or a leg. Best suggestion is to get to a place as soon as it opens. I know places like Rum Jungle in Mandalay Bay don't charge a cover until 10pm, and you can often get in before that time for free or cheap.

I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and went to the following (all of which I recommend):

Light (Bellagio)
Pure (Ceasar's Palace) - Cameron Diaz & Justin Timberlake were VIP the night I was there
Rain (Palms)
Tabu (MGM)
Body English (Hard Rock) - next to impossible to get in - being w/ hot women helps

Pure is supposed to be the big hotspot right now. Don't know what music type they play. Also, there's Tangerine at TI, I think. Isn't that a dance club?

Just going off of your musical preference, I would suggest going to a club called Ice. It's off the strip about a block or so and has 2 large dance rooms. One large one for hip-hop/rap and a huge room for trance/house/etc.

If you want to go to a 'hot' club, then Pure or Body English are the hot clubs to check out. Although if you go to either one, you'll most likely have to wait in line for a while and pay at least $20 in cover. Unless you know someone who knows someone or you show up with 10 hot girls in tow. :)

Pure has multiple rooms with different DJs spinning different music, but I don't recall any of the rooms being dedicated to trance or house. It was mostly hip-hop, rap, and dance music. Body English has one giant main dance floor so the music will alternate between several different genres, but you'll probably get more hip-hop/rap than hi energy stuff.

A club that's been around for a while, but still worth going to, is Studio 54 at the MGM Grand. My friends and I used to go there all the time when we went clubbing. There's only one "room" for music, but they usually play a great mix of hip-hop, hi energy, trance, and whatnot.

Uh... sleeping? :D After that I would say shopping because there are a ton of malls now that each casino on the strip has seen fit to build one.

Hope that helps!

Don't know if Bellagio/Light does it the same way, but when I stayed at TI 2 weeks ago, if you were a registered guest you could bypass the line for Tangerine. If you can do that, take advantage of it.

Tangerine was hopping for what it was although dance clubs aren't really my thing.

Drai's (in Barbary Coast) is a good after-hours club.

Yeah, I will see if our $250 a night room gets me into the Light for free, without having to wait in line!

Thanx, Chris

I don't know if it is still around, but Club Utopia is/was a good spot for some progressive house/trance. I wouldn't go to Studio 54...some lady friends of mine went there and didn't think it was all that great.

Well I'm off to Vegas tomorrow and thank you for all your suggestions.

I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing., I will probably be so overwhelmed by all of the bright lights, that I will just stay in my room, curled up in a fetal position!

Sorry I didn't update this thread, but I did create one here http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=441607

But to answer this threads question about dancing, I went to Tabu at the MGM Grand on Wednesday night. It really didn't have a dance floor. People were encourage to dance on the tables and I of course danced by myself on the walkway which went around the tables. I was close enough to grab my drinks. ;)

Luckily they didn't charge to get in, but the cost of the 5 Long Island Ice Tea's ($11 ea  ) more than made up for any money I may have saved by not paying admission.

The DJ was okay. He was basically playing MP3z or Audio Tracks from a computer and mixing them together. One mistake he made was a gradual increase of the BPM. He started off at around 95 BPM and by the time I left at 2:30 am, he was around 130 BPM. A good DJ mixes up the beats in sets and that way gets the crowd going in a more positive way.

The way he was DJing, people would come into the place, stay for a couple of drinks and then leave. He didn't draw anybody in permanently with creating sets.

Now when I DJ a surprise birthday party tomorrow night, I will start off with a couple of slow sets and then ramp it up as the crowd gets into it. Then maybe slow it down a little and then ramp it up again.

Back to Vegas, on Thursday night, I was still pretty tired from Wednesday night (dancing, drinking and walking from the MGM Grand to The Bellagio), but I went down to Light and immediately knew that I didn't like the atmosphere.

First off, they were playing Hip Hop music outside while we waited for the place to open up. I needed music that was in the 120 + BPM range to really get me going that night. Plus they wanted to be trendy, so they let a group of women in first, then a group of people that were probably in the know and they kept doing this. I decided after about 30 minutes that I wasn't going to have anything to do with this 'preferential treatment', so I got out of line and went and gambled and won a $125 quarter jackpot. I got 3 free Long Islands for playing and then went to bed at 12:30 am.

I was fresh for our trip home the next day, Friday, so I made the right decision.

Now my mom has invited me to Vegas next April for my birthday (45  ) and they are going to be staying at The Luxor and go see Ka ('O' was fantastic, Danny Gans was hit and miss).

So I had a pretty good time in Vegas, my mom and Ray paid for pretty much everything and I only spent about $100 for drinks and gambling the 4 days we were there.

So come April, I will have to find more dance places to go to. Thanx for all of your ideas. Keep 'em coming for next year! :)

Sounds like you had fun. You're lucky you don't drink martinis when you're out. Try $15 per drink. :( I need tob double my bankroll next time, just to cover my bar tab. :)
