Petition To Get The DVDS For Donations Thread Back Up. Post & Support The Cause!!!!

It really is a shame when any inventive of way of trying to do something good for people is met with such opposition. The entire purpose of the thread to give DVDs to people who donated to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund was to hopefully entice those people who may not contribute otherwise or give further incentive to those people who are on the fence or normally wouldn't give quite as much.

The founder, gkleinman, apparently was swayed by the critics' views, so let's show him how much support the cause really has.

Sure, I could just put the thread back up, but I don't want to do that while there's still such opposition to it from the higher-ups, just to have it get closed down again.

The thread was just starting to get people's attention. I was just starting to get some donation offers and volunteers to donate dvds.

So I beckon all of you DVDTALKERS who support this cause to post and show your support.

Anything you can do will be appreciated. The important thing is that you do something.

Thanks and God Bless.

The reward for giving is the knowledge that you've helped people in dire need. Anything beyond that opens the door to people taking advantage of a horrible disaster.

The equation here is simple.

There are hundreds of thousands of Americans who need our help. There are a ton of charities who welcome your donations with open arms.

Amazon is one that many are pointing to (including Google) for the red cross. Here's the link: http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/pay...423641-9847255

You can also help by donating blood at your local red cross.

Personally I'm supporting NW Medical Teams:
http://www.nwmedicalteams.org/

They run a very tight ship. Do not spend money on promoting themselves, and have rushed to the scene of many of the recent global disaters. (96% of donations go to direct support: http://www.nwmedicalteams.org/top_st...formation.html)

http://www.charitynavigator.org is a good site to check the % of money which you donate that goes to aid vs fundraising and salaries.

Blah. I think it's a good idea, but if everyones going to get their panties in a bunch I'll sell the DVDs I was going to donate on ebay for a lot this that stones thread would have generated.

Stone- YGM. There is no sense in me sending you DVDs to sell on ebay when I can do it myself. Thanks for the offer, I thought you had a good idea. Maybe you should just make a thread selling those titles (like a normal thread around the exchange forum) and include an FYI: your payment will be donated to the Red Cross. I would sell mine here, but I'm not well-known enough on DVDTalk. So, I guess I'm ebay bound.
