Both Opera and Firefox are excellent browsers. In my opinion Opera indeed is better - very light and fast, and nicely customizable. Firefox tends to get heavier and slower when you install all the plugins you want. I recommend that you at least give it a try.

I agree with Vox about FireFox.
Not wanting to start a new thread, argument, etc... I'll just say IMHO FF is trying a little too hard to be IEesq, whereas Opera has been doing there own thing for 10 years.
Now is a good chance to try O 8.2 w/o the ad banner @ no cost & see what you think.

In addition to that question, (this is the first time I'm using Opera) I seem to be experiencing some odd things.
1) the scroll "bar" on my laptop's touchpad doesn't seem to be operational on any sites I visit with Opera (yes, I confirmed they work when using IE).
2) I was visiting an academic website where I needed to post a reply to a message, the message reply window was non existent (I'm currently using Opera).
These questions probably being in tech forum, huh? sorry!

i've used both firefox and opera, and i find myself switching back and forth. regardless, both are better than IE, and with the free reg, i might just stick to opera.

Yes it might be free today with the special deal thingy, but what happens when they Upgrade and want you to pay $39.99? I'll stick with Firefox, thank you.

I D/L'd Opera yesterday and after using it for a few hours, I feel Firefox is superior and will be sticking with it. Perhaps I needed more time to spend with Opera, but I honestly didn't think there could be anything significant enough to warrant a browser change for me.

I agree with Geofferson. I played with Opera last night, and the first thing I noticed was something I haven't seen in a long time in Firefox or IE: a pop-up. I didn't like it much at all, with the exception of the "Transfers" screen, which is quite nice.
But I'll keep it on my machine, it's always good to have alternate browsers.
