That is funny.

I think I'll be missing the first hour of Raw due to that new Prison Break show on Fox....And I don't feel bad about it at all. Actually I might go ahead and miss the second hour of Raw too.

That "statement from Chris Jericho" that was floating around the Net last week was apparently just a draft. The full version has just been posted to the just-redesigned and relaunched chrisjericho.com site

wow, his new bio doesn't even mention wrestling till the 3rd paragraph

Now why didn't Edge and Hardy have this awesome street fight match at SummerSlam instead of the 2 minute borefest?

Oh my god. They were seriously hurt. i can't believe it. This is serious. No fooling around.

What kind of match is this hardy/edge story leading up to? A last man standing match? Unsanctioned death match? Pirhanna barb wire glass bulbs alligator cactus match?

uh oh the champ is here.

That was a brutal match between Hardy/Edge [at least until the end]..

Looks like they will be making Flair a face.

At least 'til HHH comes back..

I loved Shawn's line in the Cabana when the crowd chanted for Hogan: "You can chant all you want. Hogan's not coming back until his next big payday." The crowd pretty much stopped the chant right after that too, as if they thought "You know, HBK is right! Why are we chanting like idiots?" Too bad HBK wasn't allowed to stay a cocky heel, which is what he does best.

HBK's making a great tweener for the show. Easily the MVP of Raw for the past few months.

It's pretty interesting with the Flair face turn out of no where and teaming up with one of HHH's biggest enemies in HBK. We'll see what happens when HHH returns in October.

So Naitch is teaming with HBK....until Michaels turns his back and Flair gives him a kick in the balls so Triple H can come out with a sledgehammer. How many times has Flair done this in the past few years?

Paraphrased snatch of conversation that I found funny:
JR: "HBK is one of the two greatest performers I have ever seen!"
KING: "And I'm the other one, right?"
JR: "Err...you're right up there, King!"

Big Show is looking more and more like Andre now. He's got the huge belly and restricted movement. A couple of hiptosses, some chops, two chokeslams, and he was sucking wind so bad the first two rows passed out due to oxygen deprivation. I did like the "Shhh!" he did before each chop though.

Fell asleep during the Edge/Hardy brawl and missed the big splat. :(

I guess they still have plans for Tyson Tomko. He looks impressive, but he's going to need to show more personality than walking around the ring flexing and screaming. Nice idea showing him booting the heads off jobbers from the syndicated shows, maybe get somebody to actually watch those shows.

I'm liking the Cade & Murdoch team already. You can tell why Murdoch took the name, because he looks a lot like Dick Murdoch or a young Dusty Rhodes.

I didn't think Edge and Hardy were anymore than a work. None of that match looked like a shoot.

The only thing I think may have been real was the injury to Edge. He looked like he landed wrong.

Man, all of that was REAL!!!! Didn't you hear how concerned JR was!?!? The king even went down to help out!!! They don't do that if they are messing around. All those people shouting to see if the power was off!?! They had to have asked "Is the power off" at least 20 times. That is serious no messing around business. Even Eric Bischoff came out. He won't come out unless there is a major problem. No one has ever fell off that stage like that before. That was at least 25 feet straight down i think JR said.

I really miss Shane-O-Mac sometimes (but not the mean street posse). He did fall from like 100 feet up off the titantron it seems. I don't remember what PPV that was though. Was he fighting Steve Blackman?

Shane and Stephanie really made the shows better. They were just natural performers. I was a little impressed by Masters last night he might not be a complete tool after all only a Hercules Hernandez level tool.

Poor HBK must be having deja vu his having to carry the company again.

I thought hardy edge was decent enough. I thought coach and jr going down there was good for the show. It was clear to anyone like me who has seen to much wrestling that they were ok, but there was a little potential for edge to get hurt because he did fall kind of weird into the pile. I don't think they wanted to go down the way they did. I like Tomko kicking rosey in the gut an knocking him out that was kinda funny. It appears they are trying to recapture some of the feel of raw/nitro from years ago. Ala big match at end of first hour. I've only started watching for like a month or so maybe theyve been doing it awhile. I am a little surprised at the short leash Micheals is on regarding Hogan. In general everyone seems to be getting away with more on the mic

I thought it was a good match. Towards the end before heading up the ramp, I thought their shots were a lot stiffer. Edge did take a good bump and he did look like he landed right on the back of his neck, ending with his feet way over his head. I'd freak too knowing I previosuly had neck surgery.

He certainly was going in at a sharper angle.

Katrina hits close to home for Heidenreich
By David Agostino
August 30, 2005

John Heidenreich pleaded with his father.

With Hurricane Katrina bearing down on the entire Gulf Coast, Ronald Heidenreich’s home in Harahan, Louisiana, was sitting right in the path of the impending storm that eventually devastated parts of three states on Monday.

Harahan, which is 10 miles north of New Orleans, was rocked by Katrina, which left most of the historic city and its surrounding suburbs destroyed, flooded and under as much as 20 feet of contaminated water.

New Orleans, a city of nearly half a million people with a metro area of 1.3 million, was under a mandatory evacuation order over the weekend. However, many residents, including Ronald Heidenreich, defied that order and remained home.

“I wanted him to take my (Ford) Expedition and get out of there,” an emotional Heidenreich told WWE.com Tuesday afternoon. “But he has a lot of pets and two homes down there. He’s been through Hurricane Betsy (1965) and Camille (1969). He’s a trooper. But I wanted him to leave.”
Instead, Ronald decided to weather the vicious storm. Two days later, John Heidenreich is still trying to contact his father.

“I just wish I could talk to my dad,” said Heidenreich, a New Orleans native who lives in nearby Meterie, Louisiana. “I can’t get in touch with anybody. I just wish I knew if he was alright. I even tried to call the police station in his hometown, but no phone numbers in the area are working.”

Heidenreich, who is one half the WWE Tag Team Champions, was in Jacksonville, Florida, Tuesday. With nobody able to enter or exit New Orleans for at least the next two weeks, if not much longer, Heidenreich plans to stay with friends in Louisville, Kentucky, while the city dries out.

Still, Heidenreich has no idea if the two-bedroom duplex he rents in Meterie is still standing. He left his cat Caramella, both his cars and nearly everything he owns back home. His only contact with his hometown comes via the disturbing footage shown on television and over the internet.

“I’ve been watching the footage,” Heidenreich said. “A helicopter was flying over an area near where I live. I saw a mall I shop at was flooded and the front of the building was ripped open with merchandise all over the place. I had no idea it would be this bad.”

Heidenreich’s mother lives in Picuyane, Mississippi, which is also part of the Gulf Coast region that got hammered by Katrina. Fortunately, Heidenreich has been able to reach her on her cell phone since the storm touched down.

“I spoke to my mom twice on her cell phone,” Heidenreich said. “Her power is out, and she had about 12 trees fall in her yard and one busted a window. Down trees are blocking her entire street and she can’t leave her house.”

While his hometown begins to pick up the pieces, Heidenreich is doing his best to focus on wrestling. SmackDown! live events are scheduled for Macon and Albany, Georgia over the next few days and SmackDown! will be in Atlanta next week. In the meantime, Heidenreich doesn’t even recognize the city he grew up in.

“I was born there, I played high school football there, I played for the Saints, New Orleans is a big part of my life,” Heidenreich said. “I have all these phone numbers of friends and I can’t get through to them because the towers are damaged. It’s weird to know so many people and not be able to get in touch with any of them. Hopefully, the footage they’ve been showing on television is the worst of it.

“My heart goes out to everyone out there,” Heidenreich added. “You just can’t believe it’s happening. It doesn’t look real.

Given its location, New Orleans has always been a city under the constant threat of dangerous tropical storms or hurricanes. Up until Monday, many of the most recent storm threats never fully materialized.

“It’s like the boy that cried wolf so many times,” Heidenreich said. “You always hear the big one is coming and it always weakens or goes somewhere else. But this was our time. You don’t realize how much damage Mother Nature can do. It almost feels like the end of the world.”

Even so, Heidenreich would feel that much better if he could just reach his father

I hate how people say TNA is WWE rejects when WWE is full of WCW rejects...

Some thoughts on the show...the show started off pretty good with Carlito and HBK...then comes Masters and the whole thing goes downhill quick. BUT WAIT! Ric Flair is teasing a face turn...AGAIN!!!

What would happen if Big Show beat up two indy guys and no one cared? Well, we found out...Snitzky comes out and...still no one cares.

Torrie and...ummm....random diva search loser both have the kind of voice that makes a cat's brain leak out it's ears. Then Victoria beat up the Diva Search girl. Didn't they start this angle with Christy on Raw a few weeks ago? Then again with Stacy on Heat? Now Victoria is on the side of the chicks just like the...ah forget it, logic doesn't exist in the WWE. On the plus side I got to see a Widow's Peak and I love that move.

Since Edge came back from his injury I haven't liked him, but this Hardy thing really brought out the mic skills. On a side note...it's kinda funny see the guys from Creed at a WWE show, I don't know if that's a step up or down for them...

Ric Flair got attacked backstage, because really, we haven't seen that before...but who did it? Carlito? Masters? HBK? HHH? Kane? Trish? The Hummer Driver?

The street fight was really good. I loved the ending, Matt showing with the even if it kills me thing. I guess this is leading to his Angelic Diablo character. I wouldn't have been suprised if Edge was actually injured with the way he landed. The one thing that annoyed me was the camera shooting from the angle in that picture. There is never a camera below the stage unless something happens there. It's like some camera man serendipitously was right where two guys ended up landing. If so that guy needs a raise a 900 number and an infomercial. The one thing I'm not buying is the hatred. Leading up to Summerslam they were laying into each other, then I missed the Summerslam match. The streetfight on the other hand seemed like they were throwing stiff shots sometimes but mostly wrestling shots. After watching Samoa Joe and Low Ki (two guys who don't have issues) beat the hell out of each other the Edge/Hardy stuff just doesn't do it for me.

Speaking of Joe, I wonder if he looks around the room everytime Cena says "the champ is here" and says I'm not there! I enjoyed the Angle and Cena bit. Angle is great as a vicious heel and Cena did his part well. I can't wait to see the match since Cena's best matches were with Angle in 2003 and at No Way Out this year.

Tomko destroyed the tag team champs, isn't that great. Where was Rene Dupree? On Heat he came out for Tomko's match and joined commentary looking for a new tag partner. Not that anyone watches Heat and would know that.

HBK vs. Masters and Carlito. Wow. That was awful. If anyone wonders why Mastes shouldn't be in a ring, watch that "match." Since HBK couldn't drag anything out of Masters and Carlito, as much as I love the character, isn't all that great in the ring, Flair comes out to save the mess. Yeah yeah, I know Flair would have still come out even if that was the best match ever. What happens when Flair comes out? Some genius decides to put Masters over Flair. Why? Because Vince likes steroid freaks. These days it seems like he's more attracted to steroid freaks who suck.

When I think about it there has been a few big men with potential that have been cut recently. Matt Morgan was kinda small, got huge like Vinnie wants, got cut. Sean O'Haire wasn't a monster, became a monster, got cut. Mark Jindrak wasn't huge, became a little bigger, got cut (I just liked Jindrak, he could do a lot that most big guys can't). Even Kidman was small in WCW, bulked up and got too big, started screwing up the shooting star press and got cut. Scott Steiner is the best example, he used to be awesome. He could grab a guy and do a standing moonsault powerslam. When someone does a hurricanrana from the top rope or standing they call it a frankensteiner because it was one of Scotty's moves. Then he hit the roids and look at him now. You know, if you stopped by the Burger King he's most likely working now. The funny part is if you look at WWE's most recognizable names and champs you have Hogan (big guy), Stone Cold (not big), The Rock (not big), HBK, Bret Hart and now Cena (none of which were that big). Enough of the rant.

One last thing, it was awesome to see the TNA ads during Raw. Not because TNA is great, it isn't. The good thing is, if TNA can step up and be competiton then WWE will have to get better, it'll be the Monday Night Wars all over again. Although TNA and WWE can't really be compared, TNA is all about wrestling with some storylines added in a way to hopefully add flow. WWE is all about storylines with some wrestling added in a way to hopefully add flow. I would say if you watch Masters walking to the ring and think "this is gonna be great!" then TNA isn't for you. On the other hand if you want to see good wrestling check out TNA. At least watch the first episode when it finally airs, if for no other reason than the more people watch TNA the better WWE has to get.

And I almost forgot...when's the Midget Diva Search?

I think he was tring to point out how absurd the statement in the first place and not being serious.... I think.

Third rate bush league with WWE rejects and wannabee's. No thanks.

ummm... ok. Let me get this straight, any former WWE guy who wrestles somewhere else is a reject and anyone who hasn't wrestled in WWE is a wannabe?

I'd rather watch that reject main event of Raven vs Rhino anyday over the borefest that is Batista vs Bradshaw or any match with Orlando Jordan or John Cena in it.

and who are these "wannabe's"? Petey Williams, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Lance Hoyt, Chris Sabin, Samoa Joe, Abyss, Elix Skipper, Jerrelle Clark, Alex Shelley, ect ect?? Those are some pretty awesome wannabe's! it reminds me of the old Monday Night Wars when WWF fans would laugh and say WCW is a bunch of old guys and wannbe no-names... of course WWE was more than happy to take in all those old guys and those no-names were Benoit, Booker T, Rey Jr, Jericho, Jamie Noble, Juvi, Kidman, Saturn, Psychosis, Malenko, Eddie, Chavo, ect ect. Of course who wanted to watch the Booker T vs Benoit best of five or Eddie vs Rey fued on Nitro when exciting matches like Seve Blackman vs Mark Henry or Gangrel vs Big Boss Man was on Raw, besides, Eddie vs Rey is only interesting when they are fighting of the custody of a child, WCW always let that boring wrestling stuff get in the way.

Maybe I'm a little one sided because I'm a big TNA fan and I live here in Orlando and I get to go to all the TNA shows at Universal Studios... but I don't get it when people say TNA is just a bunch of old WWE guys... who? Jarrett, Raven (he's really a ECW "reject"), Rhyno (same deal as Raven), Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, X-Pac.... thats about it... oh 6 whole guys! what?? one of the best heels in wrestling, two guys from ECW, and 3 guys from DX, one of the hottest wrestling factions of all time.

it's funny because I personaly think TNA doesn't have ENOUGH classic stars (sorry, "rejects") I'd like to see them get Sting, Hart, Kanyon, Test, Scott Steiner and bring back Nash, Hall and DDP, I think they need more big star power.

When the Dudleys come into TNA will they suddenly become third rate WWE rejects too?

How sad is it that I thought Ashley was better on the mic than either Torrie or Candice?

I'm looking forward to Cade and Murdoch too... though it might be because the tag division is so sad that the tag champs jobbed to a Heat mainstay.

I thought they were going to bury Hardy again, but the street fight was actually pretty decent, despite the ending.

I know people here don't like him, and his wrestling skills are more like brawling, but I still like Cena on the mic. That whole taunting Angle thing was great.

Were the balancing problems Benjamin had a few weeks ago ever explained? Was it storyline or legit?

I never noticed it before, but the WWE sure does like it's homegrown talent. Sure Benoit, Eddie, RVD, Mysterio, Big Show and Jericho climb near the top, but if you look at the past few years of top WWE guys, you get guys like Austin (I know he was in WCW, though he wasn't that big), the Rock, Undertaker, HHH, Bradshaw, Angle, Lesnar, HBK, Edge (well, they seemed to be pushing him up), Orton, Cena and Batista. In fact, of the people who failed to jump ship before WCW imploded, the only ones who are around in a significant capacity that I can remember are Booker T (who STILL has to go around boasting about the WCW championship), Mysterio, and Bischoff. Is there anyone else around from that WCW era?

thoughts on RAW

Fast Forward there is no greater sin... Well there is, but it sounded cool.

Yeah I want the fucking Cabana over the Highlight Reel...

With that suit, Shawn should be boarding a yawt...

Isn't it odd that Carlito's a champ, yet he's a full time mouth peice. When is the last time he wrestled?

"Hogan chant here tonight." - JR Thank you Captian Obvious!

Chris Masters... Now King & Coach can "gay-out" over him...

Flair... Ok so we're gonna have a tag match down the road...

That is gonna be the stiffest Street Fight...

I told you... Tag match...

The Big Show vs. WHO???? This is just fucking sad.

Fast Forward....

Torrie & Candice... I like it.

They keep finding more and more cool ways to get these women in the ring...

Wow, I never realized how terrible Torrie is on the mic... Oh wait, I never gave a shit what she had to say...

JR, actually all the commentators need to keep quiet for a while...

"Silly Rabbit..." HA

Diva fights look so unrehearsed... But hey, one of there tits might pop out!

A TNA commercial on RAW! Vince must be bullshit...

Cade & Murdoch are gonna suck...

Getting the band over... HA "It's not American Idol..." HA

What a whore... HAHAHAHa WOW! What a rack!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spit in her face Matt! DO IT!!! He should've spit in her fucking eye...

DAMN! That's a assload of fake blood... Almost as much as Shawn had when he went through the car windshield a few years ago...

That is a great top Lita has!

I think it's time Matt got new "darker" music... He should've become more of a Raven-like character...

DAMN those shots are stiff!

Why even call this match??? SHUT THE FUCK UP AND WATCH 2 GUYS FIGHT!!!

"Hardy's not wasting any time..." It took him long enough to get that ladder out.

fucking commercials...

There really is a shitload of signs out there...

JR needs to shut the fuck UP!!!!

I bet Matt's ass is killing after that jump...

15 feet??? Come on now... 7 at the most...

This is why I could never be a commentator... I'd spend half the time tell them to Shut UP & watch!

It's TV not radio... They don't have to sell shit like this, we get it!

If I didn't like hearing the sound of the shots, I'd mute the whole damn show...

OOOOOOOOOOH!!!! Hard boot! Damn!!! Shit!

Lilian looks so out of place sitting in the corner in those "fuck me boots"

Their voices are driving me batshit!!!! SHUT UP!!!!!

I think they just told us 4 times in less then a minute, that there are No Rules in a street fight and that the SummerSlam match was stopped due to blood...

There's another No Rules update, for those that missed the last 50!

Another!!! Oh my fucking GOD!!!

The jackass biting his fingers behind Lita is histerical... HA

SPIT IN HER FACE!!!

damn....

NICE! Special Effects!!!! "Shut the power off!!!" HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

King's gotta go to check on them to add realism... Because we all remember who was there checking on Owen when he fell.

"This is Hardy taking Edge to hell." Real heartfelt JR, even with your shoot voice you sound like you're selling...

The only way that fued can end is a Hell In A Cell match...

Cena just got himself a slam on the next G-Unit album...

It's really not nessisary for Kurt to run down his bio everytime he speaks...

Kurt is spitting a lot!

This exchange is getting a bit tired...

Gay jokes with mad hat head... HA

Lord of War a.k.a. TRUE LIES...

I thought Tomko was released...

Rosey's 400lbs... Let's not get carried away JR! He's not quite that big...

Did Coach just go "OOOOOOOO" at Chris Masters??? There's a line and I think Coach just tripped over it.

A lame ass Handicap Match as a main event??? Fucking retards book this shit....

San Antonio's definatly on the edge of their seats JR... This match is HUGE in Shawn's career... ASS!

FF....

I really find those TAG & AXE commercials funny...

When's RVD coming back???

Gee, who didn't see Flair coming????

He's even got blood in his armpit...

HE LEFT THE HOSPITAL!!! OH MY GOD!!! There must have been NO TRAFFIC!!!!

Isn't the Full Nelson... Sorry, the Master Lock, isn't that a chiropractor move?

JR is so upset... Last words... "Damnit! Damn!" Insightful...

This episode had so many holes in it I don't even know what to say...

The Hardy/Edge thing is the only good angle going, IMO... I mean, what was that shit with the Big Show???

lotsofdvds, thanks for that link. The Thunder show actually did sound a lot better than Raw. lol. Who would have thought?

I'm pretty upset that the I.C. title is really losing it's luster. Hell it wasn't even on the SummerSlam or was it?

Few early Smackdown notes. If you listen carefully when Sylvan gets in the ring there is a quiet spot and someone yells "Dude who the hell are you". I love Chris Benoit but he sux on the mic his whole career, but this new gimmick is great.

Another thought Batista Simon Dean was real funny. I have said before that I am getting back into this, but his mic skills has gotten a lot better. Still not a star on the mic but very serviceable.

what's Benoit's "new gimmick"?

so, will Smackdown tank in the ratings next week when it moves to Friday?

Spicollidriver1

Benoit's new gimmick is that he trys to find other things he can do in less the 25 seconds. Last weeks he made a cup of coffee, this week he was taking a leak. He was actually entertaining outside of the ring for once

It's good to see Benoit getting some promo time even though he really doesn't need it to get over with the fans.

. Is there anyone else around from that WCW era?

Steven Regal, hurricane

I think Regal left for the WWF before WCW folded.

so....in light of the NO tragedy, will the Hurricane have to change his name?

Not sure if the Hurricane counts. Cause even though he was a WCW star, it's not like he was the most popular guy being part of the 3 Count gimmick.

See it's unfair to bring stuff like that up. Back then five years ago there was a Monday Night War and big time competition. Nowadays, we won't see stuff like this cause there really isn't anything to drive the WWE to beefen up what they are currently offering.

Secondly, I don't even see why we're all complaining. About 10-15 years ago, we were lucky to even see two big names square off in more than one match on monday night. Half the time all we would ever see were a couple promos behind a blue screen and the big names wrestling jobbers.

And finally, it's one thing to complain about monday nights and what the show is. It's a free product. We're not really paying to see it. Now if you were paying to see a PPV and they didn't offer up a good show, then yeah you can complain. But for the most part, the average WWE viewer doesn't pay a dime to the WWE. If you don't like it, don't watch it. If the ratings continue to slip even lower, then maybe they'll have better stories.

I don't know, there are many times i'm upset with the product they're offering right now but I can't complain. I don't pay to see the events and i've only ordered two PPV's in Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble.

Uh... more ratings equal more advertising dollars.

Shane's fall was actually at Summerslam 2000 I believe. Kane beat him in the crappy ambulance match at Survivor Series 2003. I also miss Shane. His match at 2001 KOTR with Kurt Angle was fantastic.

I didn't post that to compare or complain about anything. I just thought it was cool to look back and see where everybody was 5 years ago. Interesting that you took it that way.

I hate how people say TNA is WWE rejects when WWE is full of WCW rejects...

I guess I should have said "if TNA is WWE rejects, then by the same logic WWE is WCW rejects."

I finally got around to watching Smackdown and...

I like Benoit's new angle. I saw his new graphic on Velocity and it's awesome, if you haven't seen it yet, he does the throat slash into a thumbs up then points at the belt while smiling.

Palmer Cannon sucks. They could have at least brought back Cyrus...Did you get the memo? Hahahaha. Second best running gag in wrestling behind the hummer driver.

I'm really digging Ken Kennedy, he's decent in the ring and good on the mic. He wrestled on the indy's as Ken Anderson (and his first appearance with this gimmick was on Velocity against Funaki) and has a really good swanton.

As much as I hate to see Nova buried so badly, I enjoyed the Batista & Simon Dean bit. Batista is actually funny, he needs more of a chance to show off that side.

I like Paul Burchill, and heel Regal is always money.

Eddie Guerrero is the best heel in the WWE, hands down. He's been making this awful angle work and continues to.

The best part of the show...Rey doing the springboard into a european uppercut low blow. I like the Orton and Rey match, plus I like how Orton works hold, even if it is always the side headlock.
