John Clayton brought up an interesting point. Buffalo, Baltimore, and Washington all look like the exact same team. Excellent defenses, Good running game, extremely suspect QB. The only minor difference is that Baltimore might get a slight bump on D with Reed and Lewis (if possible). Yet the experts generally like Buffalo and Baltimore, but not Washington. Go figure, since Washington is in the weaker conference.

I guess personally I do doubt Washington and Buffalo, but I'll defer on Baltimore who always seems to do fine w/o a QB.

I hate Fox. I live in Cowboy/Cheifs country so I will get these 2 games every week, and this sucks as I hate the cowboys on top of them sucking and making for BORING games. Last year Fox had to show in it's entirety the Dallas-Arizona game, even though this game was finished early on and it was not a good game. At the same time my Vikings were playing at Atlanta and they were coming back from a 21 point deficit. Fox switched over once the Dallas game was down to the last minute and Minnesota game had 2+ minutes left.

This week Fox has the doubleheader, and my Vikes actually play opposite the Cowboys this week - most other weeks they play at the same time. Now Fox has 4 games on at noon Tampa Bay at Minnesota, Chicago at Washington, New Orleans at Carolina and Seattle at Jacksonville. Now based on last year and this off season I would rank these games NO @ Car; TB @ Minn; Sea @ Jax and Chi @ Wash. But Fox in their great wisdom has decided that the Chicago/Washington is their national game and it will be our early game here. I doubt many Chicago/Washington care about watching this game.

I don't get the Chi/Wash pick either. Personally I would prefer the TB/Minn game, instead I'll be watching the Jets/KC game on CBS. Admittedly, I haven't been following the off-season closely, is there any perticular reason Chi/Wash would be interesting? If not I can only assume they were picked because they are both from big markets.

Nope, no good reason. Both seems sucked last year (and the year before), both are projected to suck this year (although with the NFL you never can tell). Neither made signigant offseason moves. There's no real rivalry. I submit FOX is run by sadists.

Pretty pathetic attempt on 4th/goal. Not sure if they just didn't execute or Miami knew exactly what they were running.

Unfortunately Bell isn't a goal line guy....but 9 attemps for 40yds isn't bad....but I think he had 1 long run, and then got stuffed the rest...much like Anderson who has something like 4 attempts for 5 yards.

So far my bench players are scoring as much or more as my starters.....which isn't exactly ideal, but i set my team up to be consistant, so i'm not expecting anyone outside of Priest, Tiki, and Collins to put up big numbers.

ps. This Mia vs. Den. game has some GOOD hits. Smith got ROCKED after a pass, now McMichael just did a forward flip because his legs got taken out.

At least one hold on Grant was a bit ticky tack, but penalties for illegal touch were on the money.

By the way, I think the Saints may be playing with a little too much passion. how do you lateral a turnover in the other team's red zone with 20 seconds on the clock? Yikes.

I do love when the announcers in the NO-CAR game were going on and on about how amazing Deuce McCallister was playing, with these stats:

I remember last year when J. Garcia got me NEGATIVE points one game. My top QB was in a bye, my backup was questionable to play, so I picked up Garcia for a game. I won the match up....but a QB getting NEGATIVE points?!

btw...I had Janakowski and J. Reed on my team (yahoo auto draft made me draft a 2nd kicker before I could submit my pick) I ended up keeping their pick, and cutting Janakowski. Reed has 10pts already, and is just starting the 3rd quarter....SWEET!

Brian Gentz
09-11-05, 02:41 PM
Yeah Orton looks good, not necessarilly putting up good stats, but he hasn't turned the ball over and hasn't been flusterd against the Redskins defense.(fumbled once but grabbed it and sat on real quick.)

Alright, these announcers are also horrible... Mike McKenzie got an INT (after a clear pass interference, but that's another story). He goes back, gets hit, goes down... fumbles. The ball was clearly out from the replay before he went down, but the announcers are convinced he had the ball.

I'm not digging LJ looking good. I need Priest to be the stud, and LJ to be the change of pace!
Priest looks like he's going to need a couple more games before he gets his groove back. Not bad, just not 100% Priest.

Look for LJ to get a lot of carries this season, though.

Grossman was never the answer. I think he can do decent...but he isn't a solid #1. I think Orton did well considering his situation (bad team, sketchy O-line, rookie).

Jacobs for the Giants has 2 very good runs so far. Tiki broke off one. The Giant's O went 81 yards and had a great start to the game. Giants D was 3 and out too.

Even IF he was totally responsible for the Super Bowl win that was over 5 years ago, and the team has become a total joke since then. Of course he was only responsible for calling the right plays and having incredible players execute those plays, Vermeil set the tone and was the true leader.

Martz can't do squat as a head coach, and after 5 years that is painfully obvious. Actually, it was really painfully obvious once the Patriots exposed Martz in the Super Bowl. The following season just confirmed it when everyone else did as well. I would have let him go following the 2002 season when it became clear that he was in over his head.

Have the fans in St Louis really been supportive of Martz, or have they been calling for his head on a platter? I would have cancelled my season tickets last year rather than watch more of Martz' incompetence.

A lot of that yardage was after wright came in. He had nothing to lose, so he was just throwing like crazy. Their front four looked terrific but they did give up over 400 yds. If you're a Colts fan you have to love the O-line's play after Maning got sacked 15 times in the preseason.

Billick really needs to give up on Boller. He's never going to be a quality NFL QB.

Though this Raven hater is hoping he sticks with him. :D

Good win for the Colts. Baltimore's offense is inept but holding them scoreless until the last few seconds is still an accomplishment for that defense. Hopefully they continue to get better as Simon gradually gets more involved.

Good luck with Corey Simon. The dude was a big fat slob last night. It was embarrassing to see. He looked at least 50 pounds over his normal playing weight. No wonder the Birds released his fat ass.

Simon always came into camp completely out of shape. Every year, he'd come to camp way over his playing weight. He pretty much always worked it down during the pre-season and then was close to playing weight by opening season. Now, he missed pretty much all of training camp because he didn't want to take that tiny $6 million a year guaranteed salary and use the time to negotiate, so he also didn't bother to work out, and it resulted in him being way overweight on opening day.

I expect that by week 6 or 7 he'll be down a significant amount of weight. But I still completely agree with the decision to release him.

Yes, but the BAL kicker did miss several FGs that most kickers would have gotten 2 out of the 3, and most certianly would have hit that 38 yarder in the first quarter. That basically took the entire kicking game away from the Ravens, not only because their kicker was so unreliable, but because of the lost points they had too much ground to regain.

While I wont go so far as the last sentiment in the quote, it was rather shocking to see Simon in his Colts debut. He was major sucking wind and significantly over his playing weight. I can understand that the Eagles figured it would be 4-6 weeks into the season before he could be a consistent part of the regular rotation, and, given their depth at DT, keeping him would have cost the Eagles a role player somewhere else on the depth chart.

Sad, really. I liked Corey. He was a good penetration guy up the middle and helped collapse the pocket effectively. As I live outside the Philly coverage area, I am looking forward to my first extended viewing of Patterson tonight!

Teams just came together again and got sent off the field. Doesn't look like any ejections in the second encounter. This is going to be an intense game.

It looked like a scene out of a cheesy movie. Everyone at the 50 yard line jumping up and down, jawing at each other.

Holy shit!! This Falcons/Eagles game is going to be intense. 30 minutes before the game there and a fight and now both Jeremiah Trotter and Kevin Mathis have been ejected. Then just a few minutes ago the Eagles all got on the Falcons logo on the field and started jumping on it and then the entire Falcons team ran over and started bumping the Eagles off the logo.

Good explanation. Wondering what started that. Hell of a pre-game start for ESPN. Welcome to MNF.

Trotter did not throw a punch, but as of now they both need to be gone.
