Christ. What a lump of crap this Red Sox pitching staff is. You get boned on a call, come back to put up 6, then immediately start serving up bombs with the lead.

I just need to know whose soup Roberto Petagine shat in to get stuck on the bench while Millar continues to serve zero purpose in the starting line-up.

The thing is when you are putting up a lot of runs you can get away with average pitching.

What I want to know is, what do you do with Schilling? He did not do well in the closer spot, did not look that great starting yesterday. Give him a few more shots (can you afford the chance - I say 1 or 2)? If he does not do well put him in long relief and go to a 4 man rotation for the rest of the season?
The AL East is gonna be fun these next 4 weeks.

The problem is that I don't believe the Sox can get away with it through the rest of the year, much less in the very far away postseason.

As far as Schill, that's the one thing I'm not as worried about. He was not as bad as the numbers showed. He had a very poor-looking D behind him, and if it weren't for his flat breaking pitches, he'd have looked a lot better. His fastball was sharp, and his splitter was okay. He may not be good old Schill, but he'll be okay for the rest of the year.

The thing is when you are putting up a lot of runs you can get away with average pitching.

What I want to know is, what do you do with Schilling? He did not do well in the closer spot, did not look that great starting yesterday. Schilling may not be a good starter right now but I'm willing to bet that if he's 100% he'll be nasty in the playoffs. Same with Randy Johnson. These guys are vets and regardless of how their seasons went, they'll be good to go playoff time.

One question regarding the wild card: If there is a tie for the wild card who gets the nod? Is it decided by the season series or do we get a one game playoff?

A 1 game playoff. It happened in 1999 with the Reds and Mets.
